Location: This position can be based out of Warren, Ohio or Springhill, TN
The Role:
The Quality Operations Manager will support Shop Directors to continuously improve, define and approve all and new Global Ops requirements. The manager will also collaborate across all manufacturing disciplines to drive common and standardized manufacturing launch quality system requirements, procedures, metrics, and standard methodologies. Addressing Manufacturing requirements upfront in Global Product Development process and PQRRs and will support all launch improvement initiatives.

What You'll Do:
The Quality Operations Manager has responsibility for a large group (more than 350 people between two sites) of employees tasked with executing a Quality System within the plant. Work involves a considerable amount of initiative in decision making and acting as the voice of the customer and is accompanied by a high level of independent judgment as well as the ability to develop strong relationships across the functional areas and within the JV environment.
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Manages quality floor operations that operate 24 hours/day and 7 days per week
• Manages all quality labs (8 labs at each plant)
• Promotes, educates, communicates, and follows up on all safety initiatives
• Maintains safety culture through leadership behaviors, audits, observations, and incident investigations
• Requires excellent communication, planning and organizational skills
• Functions as a key staff level leader of the Ultium Cells leadership team
• Responsibility to lead Ultium, GM Seconded, and LG Energy Solution Seconded team members
• Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing systems (GMS analog)
• Knowledge of quality control procedures, manufacturing processes/controls, and management systems as they relate to production operations
• Must have some flexibility for travel
• Must communicate status/activities and lead across shifts
• Responsible for department structure and staffing
• Champion of allocated Quality Business Planning requirements (KPIs)
• Champion formal problems solving process for the plant
• Ensure team connection with Cell PDT and Cell PET teams
• Responsible for warranty response, assessment, and reduction
• Support leadership team in resolving staffing/training/operational opportunities
• Ensure maintaining of proper process capability
• Responsible for product sampling operations in alignment with the control plan
• Ensures control plan is being followed
• Manages budget and achievement of productivity improvements
• Ensure cost control achieves budget needs
• Ensure safety and environmental requirements for lab operations are met
• Approve PPAP/4M activities related to launch and/or product/process change, taking a lead role in PPAP/4M activities
• Ensure Ultium compliance with GM Supplier Quality requirements
• Ensure suppliers are adhering to quality requirements
• This role is the face of Quality with our customer General Motors
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience; Masters
• preferred (Technical or Business)
• Previous production/quality leadership experience, 5 years required, +7 years preferred
• Previous manufacturing plant experience, 5 years required
• EV Propulsion or battery production/quality background preferred
• Experience with formal problem solving preferred (Red X, Six Sigma, etc.)
• Experience/knowledge of Lean Manufacturing System required

• Deals with ambiguity effectively and demonstrates agility in challenging circumstances
• Strong ability to influence without authority, which is critical in the JV environment
• Proven people skills; building and leading effective teams and building relationships
