System Engineer - Software Services

Description

Hybrid: This means the successful candidate is expected to report to their primary location (Milford OR Warren, MI) three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Role:

Join our dynamic team at Mechatronic Software Infrastructure team, focusing on cutting-edge ULTIFI 2.0 electrical architecture solutions. Our team is dedicated to designing foundational infrastructure software, central to ULTIFI 2.0 implementation. We are looking for candidates with passion and enthusiasm for software development, who are ready to make an immediate and tangible impact.

Software Services System Engineer is responsible for analysis, development, and curation of signals hat interface with the mechatronic layer. This includes network traffic analysis, alignment on signal description attributes, functional partitioning and related diagnostics artifacts, content documentation, creation of related test cases, as well as software model validation. An engineer in this role will lead the execution of vehicle signal built-in quality vision for ULTIFI 2.0, and will closely collaborate with appropriate stakeholders, including value streams, feature owners, and cross-platform software architects to align on content proposals and deployment.

What You'll do:

  • Analysis of the Functional Subsystems and Diagnostic requirements
  • Define System Component Groups based on atomic subsystem functional blocks
  • Define Serial Data Impact of the signals transmitted and received on different networks including CAN, LIN, Ethernet, etc.
  • Define High Level partitioning of the infrastructure functions that ultimately comprehend the internal ECU SW application for security and safety interfaces
  • Document the system design through UML Tool (IBM Rational Rhapsody)
  • Define network signals and deploy the structured components in the applicable electronics modules' models
  • Participate in Requirements Architecture Development (RAD) meetings to follow up and keep track of status and get stakeholders approvals
  • Support and or lead work groups of stakeholders according to the configuration management rules (RTC CRs)
  • Execute reviews of the modeling to guarantee fidelity of the system design submitted and agreed by the stakeholders
  • Align with Staff Software System Engineers and Software Architects on functional partitioning and network traffic analysis
  • Documentation/presentations relating to processes, key decisions, etc.
  • Adopt latest industry standards on BDD to refine the BDD process and method, employing different testing levels, manual and automated, to ensure first time quality.
  • Collaborate with tools and testing environment teams to define required test environments to support requirement testing
  • Collaborate with software quality teams to ensure consistent approaches across the company
  • Lead problem resolution, collaborate with the development teams to resolve quality issues, and identify robust solutions
  • Provide technical and process mentoring to new employees, including guidance on built-in quality practice such - develop training materials as needed to support scrum team work artifacts / deliverables.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred)
  • Must have proficiency with PREEVision
  • 5+ years of experience in a related field
  • Experience with distributed system protocols protobuf, grRPC
  • Knowledge of serial data communication protocols
  • Experience with embedded software development and project management
  • Experience with serial data communication
  • Proficiency in multiple software deployment environments
  • General understanding of embedded Real-Time Operating systems
  • General understanding of software architecture supporting multicore embedded processor implementations
  • General understanding of software/hardware design and their failure modes
  • High level of interpersonal communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to thrive in an agile, dynamic, high-change environment with an initiative demonstrated by reaching beyond assigned work to improve output.
  • Able to work independently with high degree of initiative
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)

  • Master's degree in engineering or computer Science
  • 5+ years of automotive experience
  • Understanding of AUTOSAR software constructs and their implementation
  • Knowledge of major automotive subsystems and electrical and electronic circuit operation
  • Knowledge and experience with diagnostic parameter (DIDs, RIDs, DTCs)
  • Understanding of service-oriented communication protocols (SOME/IP, DDS, REST, etc.)
  • Experience with Agile Product Development
