The Role:

System Engineers are responsible for partitioning and allocating product, feature and system functionality to implementation teams. Safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance are factors considered in system design with the goal of optimizing performance, design, testability, and deployability. System engineers identify use cases, define functional technical requirements, enable robust implementation designs, and ensure built-in quality with test definition and traceability.

Join our dynamic and innovative Vehicle Engineering and Quality organization, where you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of experienced software developers and engineers. This unique opportunity allows you to drive the design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge Simulation Process and Data Management (SPDM) and High-Performance Computing (HPC) solutions. This is in support of our vehicle engineering teams enabling efficient processes, enterprise data management and ultimately Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML).

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Collaborate with IT and Business leadership to identify and prioritize areas of opportunity for the CAE community working directly with them to define requirements related to SPDM and AIML.
  • Lead software developers in the design of solutions using custom and vendor engineering software for simulation and workflow management using agile development methodologies.
  • Integrate Design of Experiment (DOE) and Multi-Disciplinary Optimization (MDO) methods into these software solutions.
  • Assist Software Engineers with development, automated testing, automated builds and deployments.
  • Support Software Engineers with troubleshooting and defect resolution for applications in a High-performance Compute environment.

Additional Description

What You'll Need (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a business environment, demonstrating a strong understanding of engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++ and Python.
  • Excellent knowledge of Simulation Process and Data Management (SPDM), Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and optimization principles.
  • Experience creating AIML solutions utilizing pipelines and model training.
  • Experience in setting up and executing Design of Experiments (DOE) and Multi-disciplinary Optimization (MDO).
  • Working knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) principles and a general background in partial differential equations.
  • Familiarity with CAE software tools such as Siemens HEEDS, Altair, LS-DYNA, Star CCM+, Exa PowerFLOW, etc.

People Skills:

  • A high level of intellectual horsepower, technical acumen, and a growth mindset.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working closely with technical business customers, software engineers, project managers, and leadership.
  • Ability to design strategic solutions with implementation plans that can be executed for short, mid, and long-term results.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines and milestones.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience with Java, Angular, and Spring Boot.
  • Experience with open-source platforms such as OpenFOAM, ParaView, or Computational Model Builder is a plus.
