Onsite - This position requires the employee to be onsite full time. The primary work location will be at the General Motors Global Technical Center in Warren, MI.
The Role
We are seeking a Software Development Engineer for Machine Learning and Data to join our Advanced Development team within GM's new Autonomous Robotics Center (ARC) organization. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing software solutions for machine learning in autonomous robotics applications. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to create innovative solutions that enhance the performance, reliability, and safety of our autonomous systems.

Joining our ARC organization will provide you with the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies, contribute to innovation, and collaborate with a diverse team of experts. You will play a key role in advancing our automation capabilities and ensuring that our planning and control systems are at the forefront of the industry.
What You'll Do:
- Design, develop, and extend machine learning algorithms and models for autonomous systems.
- Implement and optimize machine learning models for real-time applications.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and control teams to ensure seamless integration of machine learning systems.
- Conduct experiments and evaluations to validate the performance and reliability of machine learning algorithms.
- Participate in feasibility studies and prototyping to explore new technologies and methodologies.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other teams within ARC organization.
- Work closely with the Software Solutions Architect to align machine learning development with the technological roadmap.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- 5+ years of experience in designing and developing software for machine learning systems.
- Proficient in Python, C/C++, ROS, Git, Docker
- Experience with Linux-based embedded system software development
- Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms.
- Experience in implementing and testing machine learning algorithms in autonomous systems.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in the robotics or automation industry.
- Knowledge of advanced planning and control methodologies and tools.
- Experience in prototyping and feasibility studies.
- Familiarity with the latest trends and technologies in planning and control systems for autonomous applications.
