Description

This position requires the employee to be on-site full-time. As we strive towards our ZERO ZERO ZERO vision for the future, we are looking for dedicated individuals to join our lab technician team. Our team is essential in supporting the development of innovative electric and autonomous driving technologies by constructing and maintaining advanced systems and subsystems for HIL/Infotainment/Electrical development test benches. These benches enable early integration and verification of software at both the vehicle system and subsystem levels, as part of the General Motors Global Vehicle Development Process.

Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report onsite full time at the Milford Proving Ground - Bldg 01,02,03,04,05 - GPS.

As the Electrical Validation Bench Technician, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Build, and maintain new and existing HIL/Electrical system and subsystem benches.
  • Resolve issues related to bench wiring, hardware updates, software/calibration flashing.
  • Verify and validate that the Hardware in Loop (HIL) / Vector benches are operational and configured for propulsion without any hardware or instrumentation issues.
  • Respond to user requests to set up benches according to testing requirements.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (HIL AE, HIL Simulation, CIE, & IT) and serve as a liaison between customers for unresolved issues.
  • Maximize runtime on all assets and document work appropriately.
  • Assist with key program events for subsystem/system level tests.
  • Identify the root causes of ECU's and instrumentation issues.
  • Provide support in analyzing and resolving customer's issues related to bench hardware, instrumentation, and PC's.
  • Update bench hardware and modules software as required.
  • Support the infrastructure for bench remote testing, including metrics and scheduling.
  • Purchase lab materials as required.
  • Decommission obsolete and out of production benches, equipment and spare parts as needed.
  • Coordinating shipping and receiving activities between suppliers, GM warehouse, docks, and GM test. regions.
  • Creating shippers in the shipping system and ensuring packaging meets regional guidelines for shipment. Collaborating with dock personnel to arrange shipment and select carriers.
  • Reconciling and updating all order information.

Additional Description

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-year Associate Degree or experience in related field, OR Equivalent Military experience in relevant field will also be considered.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in wiring harness and panel assembly.
  • Proficient in reading vehicle electrical schematics.
  • Experience in supporting root cause analysis for both hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of various automotive connectors, terminals, locks, and experience in crimping tools used by GM.
  • Soldering skills at the board level, as well as for connectors and harnesses.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.), SharePoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across multiple functions and cultures.
  • Strong communication skills, including effective collaboration and cross-cultural communication, are also essential.

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington

  • Compensation: The expected base compensation for this role is : $54,400 - $83,200 . Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
