The Role:

The automotive wireless space is a challenge and exciting filed with the an ever increasing demand on high performance wireless interfaces, including MIMO 5G, WiFi 6e, L1/L5 GNSS, V2V&V2X, BLE and traditional radio technologies. Connected vehicles customer experience is often dictated by the delivery of optimized RF solutions that need to balance styling, aerodynamics, cost and performance. With the rapid grown of these technologies it has become fundamental for OE vehicle manufactures to design and develop solutions that meet the needs of advanced vehicle programs. In this role the candidate will be hands on leading the design efforts to develop said technologies.

Hardware Engineers are a professional responsible for leading the development and design of electrical hardware. The role of the hardware engineer involves various key responsibilities: component requirements development, component design, component validation.

Responsibilites:

  • Lead design efforts for RF structures and subsystem assemblies for 5G 4x4 MIMO, L1/L5 GNSS, SXM, V2X, and BLE antenna technologies
  • Hands on utilization, simulations and prototyping to develop antenna designs.
  • Analysis and testing of designs.
  • Predicting assembly level performance through selecting materials, components, and packaging approaches, RF chain analysis, electromagnetic simulation, data collection and analysis, and other modeling techniques
  • Working directly with component level design peers to develop RF integrated circuit designs to meet assembly-level requirements.
  • Collaborating with peer functions such as Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Test
  • Lead prototyping efforts through additive manufacturing, rapid tooling, including PCB design to fabrication.
  • Develop and bring a working level relationship with external supplier partners including leading ceramic patch, stamped and formed, and, printed circuit board manufacturers.
  • Define source-able subcomponent requirements based on core design.

Required Qualifications:

  • Principal RF Engineer: Electrical Engineering or related STEM field degree: Bachelor of Science with 10 years of RF/microwave experience including HFSS / CST simulation; master's degree with 5 years of RF experience.
  • Proven track record of leading RF design efforts from conception through high volume production on accelerated timescale
  • Proficient with RF simulation and software tools such as HFFS, CST, ANSYS, MATLAB, Keysight ADS, and UNIGAPHICS
  • Working knowledge of near filed spherical measurement systems, including ability to utilize Vector Network Analyzer
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills having lead teams of engineers in the RF discipline.
  • Comfortable in dealing with ambiguity and delivering results on reduced time schedule.

Additional Description

Preferred Qualification:

  • Proven automotive antenna development portfolio showcasing creative solutions to challenging integration environments.
  • Strong written skills using Microsoft office products such as project, power point, and excel
  • Track record of innovative thinking with publications and patents

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Mountain View, CA or Warren, three times per week, at minimum.

This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.

A company vehicle will be provided for this role with successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Report review.

The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant in the California Bay Area which includes the following counties: Marin, Contra Costa, San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz might be paid in accordance with the California law.

The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.

The annual salary range for this role is $137,000 - $214,300. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
