We are seeking a talented Senior Technical Lead with expertise in OpenTelemetry and the Open Agent Management Protocol (OpAMP) for remote agent configuration.

The Role

As a Senior Technical Lead specializing in OpenTelemetry and OpAMP, you will spearhead our efforts to integrate and optimize observability frameworks, managing the remote configuration of agents across multiple environments. This role requires a deep understanding of OpenTelemetry's capabilities and best practices in implementing scalable, robust observability solutions, along with a strong focus on the control plane for remote configuration. Your expertise will guide the development and enhancement of our observability infrastructure (embedded and back-office), ensuring it meets the complex demands of modern software architectures. This role is a technical individual contributor role that will require both technical leadership and software development. This role will report to the Director of Data Engineering.

What You'll Do

  • Lead OpenTelemetry Implementation : Design and oversee the implementation of OpenTelemetry and OpAMP across diverse software ecosystems to enhance observability and data collection.
  • Architecture Design : Develop scalable and efficient observability architectures that integrate seamlessly with existing and new systems, utilizing OpenTelemetry and OpAMP for comprehensive visibility and control.
  • Data Management Strategy : Establish data management strategies that optimize the collection, storage, and analysis of telemetry data, ensuring data accuracy and utility.
  • Tool Integration and Customization : Integrate OpenTelemetry with other monitoring tools and platforms, customizing solutions to meet specific organizational needs, and manage the remote configuration of agents through OpAMP.
  • Training and Documentation : Develop comprehensive documentation on the observability frameworks and conduct training sessions for technical teams to enhance their understanding and use of OpenTelemetry and OpAMP.
  • Collaborative Development : Work closely with development teams to incorporate observability into the software development life cycle, enhancing code quality and system resilience.
  • Innovation and Research : Stay abreast of advancements in observability technologies, particularly OpenTelemetry and OpAMP, to continuously improve and innovate our observability solutions.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in software development or systems architecture, with a focus on observability.
  • Proven expertise in implementing OpenTelemetry in large-scale environments.
  • Experience with agent control, OpAMP, and control plane architectures
  • Strong programming skills in multiple languages (C/C++, Java, Python, Go, RUST, etc.).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their monitoring tools.
  • In-depth understanding of software development methodologies and lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD processes and tools.

  • Master's degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Certifications in cloud technologies and observability frameworks.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
