Workplace Classification:

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to their primary work location three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced software engineer to lead the design, implementation, and support of warehouse management solutions (WMS) within a fast-paced environment. This role requires a deep understanding of warehouse operations and extensive experience in developing, configuring and troubleshooting WMS systems to meet complex business needs. Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, design solutions, execute testing, and provide post-deployment support.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and communication skills, advanced programming & PL/SQL expertise, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, efficient, and scalable solutions. Additionally, mentoring junior team members and ensuring system alignment with organizational goals are key aspects of this role.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Implement and maintain GM Aftersales Warehousing applications.
  • Lead development of software system design.
  • Test & demonstrate software functionality & readiness, ensuring hardware agnostic solutions across all GM owned software.
  • Document requirements for design solutions and link them to test cases that can demonstrate software functionality ensuring traceability.
  • Utilize automated test tools in build environments.
  • Participation in solution architectures.
  • Foster positive collaboration working with agile team members.
  • Provide, communicate, and support common best practices among software community.
  • Utilize CI/CD pipelines for efficient development, testing, and deployment of software solutions, with a solid understanding of DevOps principles.
  • Provide independent review of software written by others.
  • Coordinate with other departments such as requirements, hardware, and security groups.
  • Be reliable and self-managed in the delivery of your part of the total solution.

Additional Description

What You'll Need (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelors degree (or higher) in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience with proven technical and professional skills in job-related area - software engineering
  • Proficient in Java and Python programming
  • Proficient with SQLServer, Postgres SQL, and Oracle databases
  • Strong knowledge of developing cloud based solutions
  • Knowledge of virtual testing, DevOps, and CI/CD pipeline integration
  • Experience with JIRA and Scaled Agile Framework

People Skills:

  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Good analytical problem-solving skills

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • IDE including Eclipse and IntelliJ
  • AngularJS or ReactJS, Docker
  • Frameworks like SpringBoot, Quarkus
  • Linux/Unix shell scripting and/or Python
  • Junit, MSUnit
  • Azure DevOps and build and release pipelines
  • Jenkins, Artifactory, Black Duck, SonarQube, Kafka, HashiCorp, Pulsar
  • Tanzu Cloud Foundry (PCF), Weblogic, WebSphere, Kubernetes
