Work Arrangement:

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Technical Center in Warren, MI or Austin Innovation Center in Austin, TX, three times per week, at minimum.

The Role:

General Motors' Core Connectivity, Cloud and Data Program Management Organization (PMO) is seeking an experienced and passionate Program Manager that is a high-energy individual who is comfortable dealing with ambiguity, engaging with leadership, and collaborating with teams across GM. In this role, you will be instrumental in steering the programs across the organizations to successful delivery. You will be working with a talented group of cross functional stakeholders across the organizations to develop execution plans that enable quality launches of our features and products.

What you'll do:

1. Define project scope, status, timeline, and resource planning ensuring alignment with business objectives, timely delivery, and exceptional quality.

2. Identify potential risks and key interdependencies, develop mitigation strategies, and action plans to address them.

3. Demonstrate initiative and autonomy in driving large projects/programs end to end, consistently seeking opportunities for improvements and innovation.

4. Exhibit clear and concise communication to executive level, showcasing professionalism through compelling presentations that utilize storytelling and metrics to display project progress and insights.

5. Facilitate inclusive meetings with attention to detail, accountability, and intentionality, ensuring the appropriate forum, cadence, and audience as well as documenting and following up on action plans

6. Foster cross-functional collaboration, operating as a key partner for product and engineering, by employing strategic communication and influencing tactics to maximize collective impact.

7. Lead teams through change, fostering a culture of adaptability by adjusting project/program plans accordingly and ensure appropriate communication to all stakeholders.

8. Display professional courage by driving accurate and honest results with a sense of urgency, inspiring the team to operate with heightened engagement and efficiency.

9. Apply domain expertise across key functions (program, engineering, product, design), appropriate project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Lean...), and strong business acumen

10. Uphold GM's core beliefs and behaviors necessary to maintain a productive team culture without inhibiting individuality and personal diversity.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 5+ years of Software project/program management or related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience leading programs with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong program management experience, with practical familiarity in Agile, Scaled Agile Framework and Waterfall methodologies, applied where most effective.
  • Proven track record of influencing without direct authority, fostering collaboration.
  • Demonstrated leadership in motivating cross-functional team members across different time zones and backgrounds to achieve goals effectively and efficiently.
  • Lead teams through change, fostering a culture of adaptability by adjusting project/program plans accordingly and ensure appropriate communication to all stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.

What will give you a competitive edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience administrating and configuring tools such as Jira Align, Confluence, Service Now or similar tools
  • Domain knowledge in Vehicle Connectivity, Cloud and Big Data
  • MBA
  • PMP Certification
