Hybrid : This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren - GM Global Technical Center three times per week, at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role:
The Design and Build Controllership team is a group of strategic business partners to finance and operations for the Capital, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain (GPSC), Global Manufacturing and Global Product Development (GPD) organizations. The team provides controllership support to current and new and developing business ventures to ensure zero defects in financial reporting as well as forward looking support for accounting system development and operationalization of accounting for the changing landscape. The team is focused on modernization of accounting activities and growing world class talent in a supportive and collaborative environment. This position will be within the Design and Build Global Purchasing and Supply Chain organization and will support the operational and finance teams for commodity areas that are critical to GM's EV growth goals.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- Work closely with GPSC Buyers and Managers, Legal, and GPSC Finance Analysts and Managers, to understand and support current and future agreements for assigned commodity area(s) including but not limited to Battery Raw Materials and Semiconductors
- Support the preparation or review of concurrence memos and Technical Accounting Analysis documents to ensure compliance with Accounting Review policy
- Key participant in GPSC Complex Contract Review Boards
- Familiarity with GM accounting policies for Volume Guarantees, Embedded Leases, Embedded Derivatives, Variable Interest Entities, and Inventory
- Partner with Global Technical Accounting on complex agreements
- Prepare and/or review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations as required
- Provide resources to team to strengthen technical knowledge and skills
- Review and coordinate complete, accurate and timely submission of quarterly SEC tasks
- Oversee the coordination of quarterly pre-disclosure process for GPSC as well as preparation of Quarterly Accounting Review materials
- Support team engagement through communication and inclusion at all levels
- Support special projects and ad-hoc requests to drive business priorities
- Ensure strong internal controls and SOX compliance
Additional Description
Yours Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or related field
- 4+ years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated Public Presentation, Timely Problem Solving, Process Improvement and Data Judgment Skills
- Financial Statement Acumen
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
- Accounting and Vendor Management Experience
- Experience Managing Business Risk - Financial
- Knowledge of Microsoft PowerBI, Oracle Hyperion Enterprise and SAP
