Work Arrangement

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Global Technical Center, Warren MI, three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

The FP&A Structural Cost Senior Financial Analyst plays a pivotal role in consolidating, analyzing, and reporting structural costs across CCA business functions to support strategic decision-making and financial planning within the GMNA region. This position is instrumental in enhancing cost transparency, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and aligning outcomes with corporate objectives. Beyond routine financial reporting, the analyst leads the development of the annual global budget and long-term strategic plans, while providing actionable insights and strategic counsel to drive resource optimization and improve operating results.

What You'll Do

1. Month-End Processes, Consolidation, & Reporting:

  • Prepare and post warranty reallocation accruals.
  • Reconcile actual headcount data with HR records.
  • Collect and consolidate CCA structural cost data from diverse departments, business units, and systems.
  • Develop standardized templates for consistent cost reporting across the organization.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports, emphasizing key trends and variances.
  • Conduct detailed variance analyses (e.g., actuals vs. budget, forecasts, or prior periods).
  • Support the GMNA finance team by explaining critical variances between actuals and forecasts or across periods (e.g., Q2 vs. Q1, H2 vs. H1).
  • Deliver actionable insights and recommendations to enhance cost efficiency.

2. Budget, Long-Term Planning (LTP), and Forecasting:

  • Facilitate monthly forecast alignment meeting with all CCA structural cost analysts.
  • Support and coordinate annual budgeting and LTP for structural costs.
  • Collaborate with various external organizations to implement and consolidate budget transfers.
  • Coordinate activities among financial analysts to ensure the consolidated CCA budget reflects transfers and achieves target costs.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to develop budgets and ensure adherence.

3. Process Improvement & Additional Activities:

  • Identify and implement improvements to cost reporting processes and tools.
  • Support automation initiatives to streamline data collection and analysis.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate and quantify the financial impact of cost-saving initiatives.
  • Champion strong internal controls, financial governance, and risk management practices.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrated business acumen with extensive experience in:

    • Financial forecasting and business planning.
    • Performance reporting, variance analysis, and business case development.
  • Strong leadership and influence skills, with a proactive approach to driving results and process improvements.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling abilities to deliver compelling leadership presentations.
  • Ability to self-manage priorities, adapt to changing demands, and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Commitment to GM's core cultural values, with a proven track record of building strong relationships and fostering trust across cross-functional teams.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Proficiency in SAP , Hyperion , Power BI , and Microsoft Excel /Office Suite.
