Are you ready to get behind the wheel of the latest and greatest vehicles and work hands on with engine dynamometers? As a Gasoline Calibration Specialist in the VMEC org, you will work collaboratively with teams in both Pontiac and Milford and develop the latest tools and techniques to make a cleaner environment while delivering world class drive-ability and performance. You will support the lead calibrator and diagnostic strategist, as well as stakeholders including the members of the vehicle platform, engine hardware, manufacturing plant and quality team.

The successful Gas Cal Specialist will be a self-starter with a focus on improving execution quality and efficiency. They will have a proven record of solving complex problems. They will foster and exemplify a culture of teamwork. They will devise and support the implementation of controls changes. The candidate will have experience motivating others, can manage multiple projects and deadlines, and has experience with several vehicle systems/component domains.
Job Responsibilities:
- Optimize fuel economy, combustion particulates, engine performance, combustion efficiency
- Follow/author documented procedures to calibrate systems to meet product goals, and provide feedback for continuous improvement
- Help create new procedures to document standard work for new technologies
- Design and manage key strategic interfaces within Vehicle Calibration and/or Engine Controls
- Help train new calibration engineers on calibration processes
- Lead requirements development with other activities
- Support root cause analysis
- Lead troubleshooting activities for complex system issues across programs
- Strong ability to efficiently capture and analyze empirical data.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices
- Identify and document calibration vulnerabilities and build mitigation action plans; track corrective actions
Additional Description
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related Engineering degree
- Minimum of 3 years of technical and/or manufacturing engineering experience
- Experience with data acquisition and analysis on complex problems
- Knowledge of ICE engine controls.
- Minimum of 3+ years engine combustion calibration experience.
- Experience mentoring engineers
- Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate test vehicles
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Science in Engineering
- 3+ years of experience with in-vehicle testing
- DRE Experience
- Experience with ETAS INCA, AVL CRETA, AVL PUMA, AVL Indicom/Concerto, Python and Matlab
- Automotive OEM experience
- Engine dyno familiarity
