Reflash Team Lead

Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Milford Proving Grounds in Milford, MI, or the Warren Tech Center in Warren, MI on a full-time basis. This position can be located at either location.

The Role
As we move towards our ZERO ZERO ZERO vision of the future, we are looking to add a hardworking Reflash Team Lead to our Reflash Team. The Reflash Team is responsible to help ensure a high-fidelity fleet from a software perspective. The Reflash Team is responsible to keep GM's development and Captured Test Fleets up to date with the latest released software.

What You'll Do

  • Manage a team of 10-15 Reflash Technicians - which includes developing team members, ensuring training completes on time and completing performance reviews.
  • Train new team members.
  • Allocate resources to ensure that all vehicle update requests and events complete on time.
  • Forecast throughput a week in advance and plan resources accordingly.
  • Manage vacation and PTO of team to ensure coverage is always adequate.
  • Flash GM development and fleet vehicles with the latest released software.
  • Ensure no vehicles are flashed without proper safety protocol.
  • Work closely with cross functional groups (Engineers, Analysts, etc.) to troubleshoot and ensure successful flashing.
  • Drive issue resolution daily to ensure test fleet vehicles can get released the same day.
  • Capture BUS logs and assist in troubleshooting when requested.
  • Effectively transfer learnings to other site leads.
  • Adhere to all safety precautions and requirements and treat safety as the top priority during all work activities.
  • Complete special assignments as required.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/education in field
  • 5+ years of automotive experience
  • 3+ years of vehicle software flashing experience
  • Strong understanding of Diagnostic Trouble Codes
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally to drive issue resolution
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and problem-solving capability
  • Demonstrated high level of oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of serial data communications
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of relevant technologies (Infotainment, Active Safety, Cybersecurity, etc.)
  • Knowledge of hardware and software interface (Electronic Control Modules)
  • Ability to work out of a variety of locations including Milford Proving Grounds, Warren Reflash Center and other remote locations as needed
  • This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Previous leadership experience with direct reports (performance reviews, management, delegation, etc.)
  • Understanding GM software release process
  • Solid understanding of the GM development process
  • Solid understanding of Functional Safety
  • Familiarity with GM software architecture and flashing techniques
