Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. The successful candidate is expected to be at Warren, Michigan location on an average three times per week at minimum.
Role
This role provides GM North America Manufacturing with component/completed vehicle repair to sustain production operations or to repair and directly ship products to commerce. Service/Repair is typically a high-volume operation working with key 3rd party providers. Repair will vary from component replacement to electrical/mechanical diagnosis with subsequent repair to vehicle programming. Focus is to understand new quality issues, determine remediation plans, effectively communicate across cross-functional teams, and execute to get quality vehicles to our customers quickly.

You will be responsible for equipment related to the manufacturing process and required to use your independent discernment. Your responsibility may involve training others and assigning work to a small group of employees.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- Act as Service/Remediation Project Engineer in various projects located in vehicle distribution centers and plant shipping yards in support of GM North America in completed vehicle/component repair/remediation services; collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, supplier quality, intermodal logistics (truck/rail/port operations) in managing various remediation projects.
- Leader responsible for processing, schedule, logistics, material, replacement parts, etc... full scope of project initiation to shipment to commerce.
- Determine remediation strategy: remediation standard work including quality repair confirmation, remediation process flow, schedule, parts, financials, etc. in conjunction with 3rd party providers and Program Teams, GM Service, Engineering, and requesting Customer.
- Access and analyze vehicle or component diagnostic data, via interrogation of GBFTT/DVT/ MERs/ CARE/ GCA/MDI data to root cause and correct concerns impacting vehicle/propulsion assembly or completed vehicle performance.
- Create remediation SOR and establish contracts with 3rd party providers to execute remediation plans.
- Lead comprehensive project management and communications throughout execution, to closure.
- Possess personal flexibility to support above beyond traditional working hours, and as required per project demands.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree/equivalent in Engineering or Automotive Technology/Service.
- 5+ yrs of Functional knowledge of internal GM Manufacturing & quality standard.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and meeting facilitation skills, in a global environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with a high level of accountability and autonomy.
- Ability to Influence without authority.
- Results driven individual with high levels of initiative and productivity.
- Knowledge of GM processes and systems.
- Strong Excel, SharePoint, Power BI and data management skills.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel greater than 50% across North America.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in Automotive Service/Repair, Vehicle/Propulsion manufacturing, Software/Controls, Quality.
- Demonstrated knowledge of various vehicle software & calibration interface tools, e.g. Multiple Diagnostic Interface (MDI) Module and Dealer Programming Software (DPS) tools, or other similar other tools.
- Understanding of manufacturing tools such as GBFTT, MERS, GEPICS, GSIP, CHIPS.
- Functional understanding of vehicle logistics & systems such as VTIMS.
