On-site: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Factory Zero on a full-time basis.

Factory ZERO is currently seeking a motivated and accomplished General Assembly Business Manager who will manage daily production operations inside Factory ZERO.

The Role:

The Quality Operations Launch Lead will be the point person for all Quality launch related activities and master dot requirements. This requires close coordination with the shop leadership team and requires the candidate to have a deep understanding of the build process throughout the shop as well all Global Quality System / BIQ requirements. Candidate must be capable of working with little direction, working well with all personnel on the shop floor, and demonstrating excellent problem resolution skills. This is a people leader position with responsibility for supervising core team members. Success in this role will have the candidate working closely with plant leadership, Global Manufacturing Engineering, Program Engineering, and all department launch team members.

What You'll Do:

You will maintain awareness of quality standards, and communicate department quality goals, and leverages resources to solve quality issues. You will build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union and management, and understand to consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union.

  • Installing quality system for overall operations of the facility
  • Tracking launch activities from installation to qualifications to steady state production
  • Leads Global Manufacturing Systems(GMS) processes across multiple departments and serves as lead resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas
  • Meets or exceeds production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements
  • Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping.
  • Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods
  • Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training)
  • Coach, teach, counsel and mentor Group Leaders in these responsibilities.
  • Owner of the Quality Operations master dot ensuring updates with the appropriate countermeasures from all department owners
  • Deliver Quality launch metric status report outs at Department and Plant 5F reviews (DRR, GCA, etc.)
  • Owner of all "Plan for Every Vehicle" (PFEV) tasks such as GCA, Launch Drive Audits, etc.
  • Train all Quality Team Members to standardized work (JIT) and document status (Flex Chart)
  • Communicate Quality launch status to the Quality Launch Manager and Plant Launch Operations Manager
  • Work with the General Assembly Launch Manager to coordinate Quality support for all builds including Torque Monitoring, Containment development, etc.
  • Communicate and coordinate Quality launch plans with Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering and Quality Operations
  • Lead Quality core team members to execute all Quality Operations master dot deliverables for the plant
  • Develop standardized work for the Quality Verification Stations
  • Fulfill Operations Readiness for all Quality plant functions
  • Develop and monitor all Pre-CARE, Batch & Hold, and ALYBI activities
  • Manage Pre-CARE, Batch & Hold, and ALYBI activities by communicating issues, driving problem solving back into the departments, and establishing breakpoints for corrective actions
  • Serve as liaison to the Quality Launch Manager for launch team issues
  • Utilize plant knowledge, relationships, and authority to support Quality launch excellence
  • Assist production with the integration of PQS documents into the development of the initial JES and SOS
  • Serve as an integral member of the problem resolution team in Quality and as the department representative for problem resolution in production departments.
  • Execute the change management process for internal process control (tooling, material, etc.) including coordination of issue resolution with Production and Supply Chain Departments
  • Participate in daily Plant Issue Team (PIT) meetings to resolve build issues and achieve production launch schedule
  • Develop and execute Quality training and workshop plan.
  • Provide inspection direction and training to all Quality team members
  • Implement lessons learned from previous launches and capture lessons learned during the program execution
  • Ensure active participation during the Process Verification Builds (slow builds)
  • Coordinate daily activity of core team members
  • Exhibit active participation as a member of the Launch Team and attend all Launch Team meetings (including the daily build wrap-up meetings)
  • Responsible to forecast and coordinate all necessary plant and 3rd party resources required during launch.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 3+ years of experience in a quality field within a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience with GA or Quality Launch in a manufacturing environment

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience
  • Exposure to MQRR (Manufacturing Quality Readiness Review)
  • RedEx, Shainin exposure
