Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Romulus GPS on a full-time basis.
The Role:
The Quality Engineer will work with production (assembly/machining), engineering and the supplier to resolve supplier quality issues and utilize Red X tools to drive root cause to improve build quality, IPPM, PPM, IPTV & FTQ. This position will primarily be on first shift but will require the selected candidate to have the ability to work off-shifts and over-time as needed.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- Support the BPD process for responsible department (review on a regular basis, provide input on metrics measurement and BPD initiatives).
- Respond and investigate line calls; perform 4 diamonds as required.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering and GSC group leaders, team leaders, and/or team members to ensure proper containment.
- Collaborate with GSC and suppliers to ensure timely arrival of certified material to supplier when being returned.
- Direct, track, and monitor the containment/inspection/rework for the Enhanced Supplier Engagement Process (ESEP).
- Respond to FlexNet calls, coach TL/GL on usage.
- Issue and track SPPS's issued to suppliers.
- Work with supplier to implement containment and corrective actions.
- Respond to PRTS/SPPS issued to the plant related to manufacturing quality issues.
- Work on top FTQ issues with manufacturing to improve IPPM.
- Review non-conforming parts for proper scrap disposition.
- Review PPAP package for approval.
- Review supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems, conduct Face to Face Supplier Audits as required.
- Utilize QS-stat to review Process Capability & gauge R&R data.
- Process change review and approval using PFCM.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to work off-shift and over-time as needed
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- 3+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or machining
- Strong understanding of quality processes and Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
- Experience with PRTS, SPPS, Flexnet & GSIP
