Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren MI orAustin TX three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

Our teams are developing a contextual & personalized "always with you" companion app, enabling seamless interactions with your vehicle and GM. We are looking for software test engineers to join the journey to ensure high quality interactions for vehicles around the globe used by millions of drivers.

The Software Quality Engineer will participate in the inception of new features collaborating to review and influence the creation of business and software requirements. To bring the feature to life in high quality sustainable working software, you will create and execute automated and manual tests, log defects, and report test metrics and test status to the project teams.

This role requires a deep experience in software test strategy, creation of automated test suites, integration testing with new vehicle capabilities, and proving our software has the quality to release through test metrics and reports. Software Quality Engineers work collaboratively with developers and product managers for the successful and on time delivery of mobile applications globally with the highest quality possible.

What You'll Do

  • Build test plans to ensure the quality of features exposing technology in our newest vehicles as well as those supported by millions of drivers using the mobile application today.


  • Build test suites, develop and execute manual and automated test cases.


  • Log, track and verify resolutions of requirements and software defects.


  • Hands on Integration test with the capabilities in the newest GM vehicles.


  • Collaborate with experienced test leads to assist in test strategy and process. improvements.


  • Review test cases written by others and provide feedback/assistance.


  • Drive quality based on feedback loops on issue trends and issue triage.


  • Advance the state of the art of quality engineering practices.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.


  • 3+ years of developing and executing manual and automated tests for mobile applications on iOS or Android.


  • Experience with TCM and Defect Tracking tools such as BrowserStack, ADO, JIRA, TestRail, or Zephyr


  • Experience using mobile test automation platforms and frameworks (e.g., BrowserStack, Perfecto Mobile, Appium, Espresso, XCUITest).


  • Experience with Git/GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket for managing test scripts.


  • Experience ensuring compatibility across multiple devices and operating system combinations.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.


  • 3+ years of developing and executing manual and automated tests for mobile applications on iOS orAndroid.


  • Mobile test automation experience on a large consumer application in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store


  • BrowserStack expertise - Hands-on experience with BrowserStack for mobile device testing - both manual and automated functional tests


  • Gherkin - proficiency in writing test scenarios using Gherkin using a declarative style


  • Page Object Model- strong understanding of the Page Object Model (POM) for structuring automation tests.


  • Programming skills in Java with experience in writing automated test scripts for mobile applications using Appium


  • CI/CD Integration - experience integrating tests with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD.


  • Understanding of network conditions, throttling, offline testing and using tools like Charles, Fiddler, Wireshark to observe mobile to microservice interactions


  • API Testing - familiarity with tools like Postman, RestAssured, Karate , for API automation testing and manual manipulation


  • Experience with multiple test frameworks - Robot , Gherkin, Detox


  • Performance Testing - familiarity with JMeter, Gatling, or k6 for mobile performance testing.


  • Experience testing wearable applications - Apple Watch, Android Wear


  • Experience testing integration with external hardware devices


  • AI/ML in Testing - knowledge of AI-powered test automation tools for visual and functional testing.


  • Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and ability to collaborate with developers and product teams.

Compensation : The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.

  • The salary range for this role is $95,000 to $171,800. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.


  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
