Description
Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role
This role within the Global Battery & Propulsion Engineering division offers the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative team focused on virtual process development and execution. Propulsion related thermal and multiphase flow simulations are the primary focus. 3D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models are used to directly impact design and eliminate hardware testing. Simulations are focused on electric motors, drive units, battery cells, power electronics, engine, and transmission related components.

What You'll Do
- Development of new and innovative CFD simulations related to electrification propulsion components
- Collaboratively work in small teams focused on the development of complex multiphase flow and/or thermal simulations
- Application of developed and developing capabilities to directly impact design, manufacturing process, and for the elimination of hardware testing
- Provide component-level and/or system-level design recommendations to Design Responsible Engineers based on interpretation of analysis results
- Participate in product design and development teams and present analysis results to engineering peers and management
- Provide mentoring and technical assistance to colleagues
- Provide technical insight for problem resolution by leveraging analysis results
- Benchmarking and evaluation of new procedures, technology, or software tools
- Contribute to the development of automation tools using Python or Java
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- 5+ years of experience with CFD simulations
- Proven expertise in developing new CFD procedures
- Familiarity or practical experience with the principles of vehicle propulsion system design, operation, or testing
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with coursework in heat transfer and fluid mechanics preferred
- 2+ years of experience with STAR-CCM+ or Simerics-MP+
- 2+ years of experience with CFD analysis of propulsion related systems
- Experience with CFD optimization tools
- Experience with test to model correlation
- Experience with programming in Python, Java, or equivalent languages
- Experience with the latest CFD visualization techniques
- Linux experience in distributed computing environments
- Knowledge of Siemens NX CAD modeling
