Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.

We seek an aspiring engineer to join our service engineering service team. The person in this role will be responsible for leading projects that resolve technical issues and ensure ongoing part availability customer vehicles that are 4 model years Post-Production. Members of this collaborative, passionate and loyal team of problem solvers also get to partner with design engineers, technical specialists, validation engineers, integration engineers and current product service engineering teams to achieve world class designs and serviceability!

What You'll Do

  • Engineering, validation/verification, and release of Original Equipment level parts to service GM vehicles beyond the current production period
  • Reduce back orders by resolving engineering issues
  • Proactively handle engineering tasks and participate in multi-functional team projects to support customer retention and profit goals
  • Create/sign-off on Engineering Change Requests, engineering deviations, drawings, validation/verification plans, and engineering requirements
  • Create and release service parts in accordance with service criteria
  • Investigate supersession and de-proliferation opportunity of existing service parts
  • Project Management and leadership of projects with full accountability and clear mentorship/support

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in a related job field
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge in system and/or component design and strives to become an authority in these areas
  • Understands math, drawings, specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Project Management skills (including organizational skills, setting priorities, understanding implications of cost, teamwork)
  • Analytical, problem solving, and root cause analysis skills, especially where problems are unusual and difficult
  • General understanding of engineering theory, principles, automotive production process, and service strategy development

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred qualifications)

  • Solid understanding of vehicle systems - working technical knowledge with prior automotive service or engineering experience
  • Established technical expertise in propulsion systems
  • Demonstrated GM dealership or field experience
  • Hands on experience in automotive diagnosis and repair
  • Knowledge of Customer Care and Aftersales and Global Product Development systems and processes
  • Quantitative and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience in the release and integration of production or service parts
  • Design For Six Sigma experience and/or certification
  • Knowledge of quality systems & tools
  • Analytical, problem solving, and root cause analysis skills, especially where problems are unusual and difficult
  • Able and willing to learn quickly. Strives for continuous self-improvement through formal and informal learning

This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate
