Job Description: This position is responsible for leading the strategy and operations for Previ-GM, Brazil's pension plan.

General Motors is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pension Plan Manager to lead our pension management team. This role is essential in ensuring that our pension plans align with organizational goals and comply with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, a deep understanding of pension management, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Lead and mentor a team of six fostering a collaborative, engaged, and high-performance work culture.
  • Manage pension plans in accordance with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements, ensuring their sustainability and efficiency.
  • Supervise the payment of benefits to retirees and the collection of contributions from the Sponsor and Participants, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Facilitate annual accounting audits, internal audits, and potential regulatory inspections, ensuring compliance and transparency.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports on pension plan performance, financial sustainability, and compliance to senior management, executive board, and oversight councils.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations governing private pension plans, including oversight by regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee communication channels for the entity, including the institutional website, participant site, email, and call center, ensuring clear and effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Create and implement communication strategies, financial education programs, and pension awareness initiatives to enhance participants' understanding of benefits and relevant legislation.
  • Conduct bank, accounting, and financial reconciliations, as well as demographic and biometric assumptions, to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to employees regarding pension benefits, options, and retirement planning, ensuring they are well-informed.
  • Conduct benchmarking with other pension plans and perform regular reviews and assessments of the Previ-GM retirement plan to identify opportunities for improvement and implement best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including legal, financial, and human resources teams, to ensure effective administration of pension benefits.
  • Manage relationships with external service providers, including actuaries, investment managers, and consultants, to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes affecting private pension plans, ensuring our practices remain current and effective.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or related fields; professional certification (ICSS, ANBIMA) is a plus.
  • Fluent English
  • Solid experience in pension management or benefits administration.
  • Strong knowledge of pension regulations, compliance requirements, and industry standards.
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to engage and educate employees on retirement plan benefits, ensuring they understand their options and the value of the plans offered. Proficient in persuasive and public communication, capable of presenting complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Customer Orientation: Demonstrated commitment to quality and participant service, ensuring that their needs are prioritized and addressed promptly.
  • Team Orientation: Ability to foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, encouraging teamwork and engagement among team members.
  • Strategic Planning: Ability to develop and implement strategic plans that align with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements, ensuring the sustainability of pension offerings.
  • Workload Management: Proficient in effectively managing multiple priorities and workloads, ensuring timely completion of tasks and projects.
  • Leading with Influence: Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence and motivate team members and stakeholders to achieve common goals.
  • Relationship Management: Excellent relationship management skills, capable of building and maintaining effective partnerships with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
  • Timely Problem Solving: Proficient in identifying issues and implementing timely solutions, ensuring that challenges are addressed proactively and effectively.
