The Role:

In this role, you will partner in the execution of business plans for manufacturing operations and will be responsible in providing support to help those operations achieve BPD plans and important metric objectives. Work is of a high-level, technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS and standardized launch processes; focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). You will need to possess the ability to deal with complex problems. You may also mentor less experienced team members.

What You'll Do: (Responsibilities):

  • Paint Shop leadership to drive improvement in business performance metrics including Safety, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost , and environmental metrics.
  • Achieve budget goals
  • Lead through guiding GMS operating requirements
  • Function as a GMS calibrator support GMS calibrations across GMNA
  • Collaborate closely with other departments within and outside of the manufacturing team
  • Maintains corporate and unit management control systems, budget and other information necessary to monitor performance
  • Assist in the forecasting of areas of responsibilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to company policies and procedures and upholds GM's vision, values, and cultural behaviors.

Expertise:

  • Recognized pre-eminent technical expert.
  • Has extensive theoretical and practical knowledge on leading-edge or complex technologies, disciplines, theories, techniques and /or concepts.
  • Responsible for end-to-end process. Applies wealth of professional knowledge to generate and implement new ideas, concepts and practices and provides resolution to critical issues.
  • Steers a course of action for their area of responsibility, often across multiple countries and regions. Has broad latitude in decisions and actions in a complex environment, and their recommendations are expected and strongly considered by senior leadership.

  • Works on unique and/or multidimensional issues of significant complexity and creates strategic and influential innovations and solutions that impact the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Solutions are often created with limited information and require long-term perspective, confident independent judgement, and discretion on significant matters.
  • Has significant discretion in setting objectives and determining approaches for important assignments. Identifies, develops, and embraces challenges and opportunities to exceed a goal. Sets new and stretching goals for self with relevant metrics to achieve beyond what is expected.

SCOPE AND IMPACT:

  • Develops, plans, and owns the delivery of critical Key Performance Indicators and Key Strategic Initiatives that directly impact function results and support GM business strategy. Often makes recommendations to senior management on the development and implementation of strategic plans and objectives. Is fully accountable for delivery of complete operational plans and their effectiveness.
  • Provides longer-term perspective to and often leads critical projects with cross-functional visibility and impact. They shape major organization wide initiatives and serve as an indirect leader within their function.
  • Champions large-scale change management and role models GM's behaviors necessary to maintain a productive team without inhibiting individuality and personal diversity.
  • Their contributions influence the organization's strategic direction and vision and are critical to the business' future success. Their impact goes well beyond their own function.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities: ( Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent operations experience
  • 10+ Years of experience in automotive manufacturing industry
  • 5+ years of experience of Paint Shop in automotive manufacturing industry
  • • Experience in Paint Manufacturing operations and/or Paint Manufacturing Engineering/Maintenance
  • Demonstrated track record of measurable results
  • Demonstrated problem solving and communications capability
  • Solid organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Highly proficient in using MS Office suite of tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project) to produce professional written communication, such as reports, presentations, and correspondence
  • Ability to travel 40% of the time or higher based on business needs domestically and/or internationally.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master's Degree in Engineering/Business Administration
  • Launch experience preferred
