Description

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Concord, NC three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Simulation Engineer with a robust background in vehicle dynamics and motorsport simulation. In this role, you will collaborate with a team of simulation and software developers to create a comprehensive simulation toolchain aimed at optimizing on-track vehicle performance for GM's IndyCar program. You will be required to set direction and bring state of the art simulation methods to the program. Areas of work will include but not be limited to defining and implementing best practices for the series in vehicle and subsystems modeling, vehicle dynamics target setting, R&D in CAE methods, data analytics and DiL development.

What You'll Do:

  • Play a key role in development of GM's INDYCAR simulation program
  • Utilize a multi-disciplinary team of engineers
  • Lead communication and request prioritization from race team personnel
  • Develop new simulation and analytical techniques aimed at maximizing on track performance, using series specific knowledge, but also leveraging information from other race series GM is involved in
  • Work with an inter-functional team, defining guidelines and ensuring an effective and efficient flow of information within different functions

What You'll Need (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related subject
  • 10 years of highly validated experience in design or testing gained within a motorsport organization
  • Experience with the architecture and performance of at least one of the following F1, IMSA, WEC, NASCAR, IndyCar race vehicles
  • Previous experience developing MmultiBS model in Dymola/Modelica
  • C#, WPF and Electron App development and benefit
  • Previous experience deploying a simulation tool within a race team/company
  • Highly analytical, client-oriented, and structured, with excellent relationship and communicative skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, ever-changing environment, bringing a strong work ethic and integrity
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • A company vehicle will be provided for this role with successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Report review
  • This job may be eligible for relocation benefits
