General Motors Marketing Data Product team is seeking an individual who will leverage their experience and excitement for data curation, data engineering, automotive industry knowledge, and marketing to act as a Marketing Data Product Analyst.
As Marketing Data Product Analyst , you will be responsible for designing, road mapping, and coordination with data engineering to create and manage integrated datasets for one of more data domains used for General Motors marketing activation, campaign reporting, and campaign analysis - with primary focus on the Marketing Data Warehouse which is considered the central form of marketing gold layer data products .

To be a successful Data Product Analyst in this marketing role, you'll be expected to be comfortable getting into and leading technical discussions, understanding technical concepts around marketing data platforms like Azure Databricks, enterprise data sources, marketing technology like the Adobe Suite, ad hoc data analysis in SQL and Spark, and data analysis tools like Power BI. You will also need to be equally skilled and comfortable in defining roadmaps, building backlogs, defining sprint goals, prioritizing features and initiatives, and exciting and influencing teams and stakeholders around your vision and goals.
The role requires a deep understanding of best practices in curation of data for general purpose as well as analytical use, understanding of data governance best practices, experience with data engineering methods in Azure Databricks or similar systems, and ability to translate marketing campaign needs into simple and effective marketing datasets and solutions.
You will participate in defining, following, and evolving established marketing data architecture and data modeling methodologies. You will use your experience in data warehouse concepts, practices, and procedures to plan and accomplish goals. You will use direct and lateral leadership as a change agent to develop and mentor data engineers, analysts, partner teams, peers, and executives.
The ideal candidate has experience working with marketing data and demonstrated ability to deliver data solutions for downstream marketing technology platforms, analysts, and data scientists.
Strong experience with SQL, a working knowledge of Python/Spark in Azure Databricks, and ability to lead others in best practices and methods in delivery of data products is required. The ideal candidate will have expert level SQL experience and hands on experience in Azure Databricks or similar data environments.
We are looking for someone that gets excited about working with data and marketing. A passion for cars, trucks, or the general automotive business is a major plus.
Roles and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Definition of marketing data product vision, roadmap, backlog, and strategic direction for one or more data domains consumed or produced by marketing.
- Developing and utilizing domain knowledge to define and evolve silver layer data product that accurately and efficiently represents data used or produced by marketing for assigned data domains.
- Utilizing Kimball star-schema data modeling methodologies to define and evolve gold layer data product that is integrated across all marketing data domains.
- Oversee and contribute to the development of feature requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams of business partners, external vendors, data engineers, data scientists, and marketing analysts to design, implement, and enhance scalable datasets that ensures alignment of product roadmap, delivery, and vision.
- Utilize technical data skills in SQL and/or spark to analyze and understand data in assigned domains, explain data to stakeholders, produce proof-of-concepts, and understand/troubleshoot data quality.
- Keep up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and identify opportunities to enhance our data infrastructure, processes, and overall data products.
Job Related Experience and Qualifications:
- Proven product management experience building product strategies, roadmaps, and executing with agile delivery processes.
- Strong documentation skills and experience with agile work planning and tracking tools.
- The ideal candidate will have intermediate to expert level experience in SQL/Python/Spark.
- Strong knowledge of star schema data modeling methodologies and data warehousing techniques, preferably in a medallion architecture environment.
- Strong knowledge of Marketing Technology and digital marketing ecosystem across one or more technology and subject areas is preferred.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in data-intensive roles with marketing campaigns, marketing technology, data engineering, data architecture, data warehousing, data schema design, and/or data product management.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor's degree required, in a related field is preferred
