Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Detroit Renaissance Center, Detroit MI, three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
The Manager of the International Tax Analysis Group is jointly responsible for leading a team in all facets of General Motor's U.S. international tax lifecycle including planning, provision, compliance, and audit defense. The Manager is jointly responsible for the construct and development of the team and ensuring that the team timely and efficiently executes with minimal control risk. The Manager of the International Tax Analysis Group reports directly to the General Director - International Tax.

What You'll Do
This position requires a detail-minded professional who has experience interpreting intricate rules and applying them to a variety of fact patterns, as well as strong communication skills, project coordination expertise, and the ability to partner successfully with all members of Corporate Finance. Key responsibilities include:
- Manage the preparation and review of all U.S. international compliance including Foreign Tax Credits (1118), Controlled Foreign Corporations (5471), Disregarded Entities & Branches (8858), Partnerships (8865), GILTI (8992) and FDII (8993)
- Lead with the quarterly and year-end US GAAP provision processes including uncertain tax positions and ensuring SOX processes are effectively mitigating financial reporting risks
- Assist in analyzing the tax impact of proposed and newly enacted U.S. tax legislation, proposed changes to financial accounting structures and systems and current or proposed transactions including reorganizations, acquisitions, and divestitures.
- Lead tax research and provide technical assistance on international tax matters related to IRS audits and ensure proper documentation and support is captured for both future return filings and tax provision analysis
- Work cross-functionally with the business, finance and tax teams to gather information to address and resolve tax issues and operationalize business models
- Assist in the management of federal, state and foreign audits, including drafting responses to government inquires and analysis of audit workpapers
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA with 6+ years of relevant large public accounting firm or private industry experience.
- Ability to work effectively with Tax, Finance, Legal and other departments in the U.S. and other countries
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience in leading a team in all facets of U.S. international tax lifecycle including provision, compliance, audit defense and planning.
- 8+ years of relevant large public accounting firm or private industry experience.
- Masters Degree in Taxation or Law Degree
- Demonstrated high levels of productivity and strong performance
- Self-motivated, with strong interpersonal, team and partnering skills
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
- Experience with finance enterprise systems and tax return preparation systems (e.g., SAP, OneSource or Corptax)
