The Vehicle Mechatronic Embedded Controls (VMEC) team within GM's Software and Services organization is responsible for developing, deploying, and releasing control software and calibrations that truly control the whole vehicle. Be it internal combustion engines, hybridized drive units & transmissions, high voltage batteries, or body, chassis & thermal management, the exciting challenge of inventing new methods to control the world's best mechatronic systems is never ending.
This Manager - Engine and Transmission Controls - Simulation & Test Automation Team is to lead a team of engineers responsible to develop new or more efficient methods or processes for use by our VMEC Engine Transmission Controls team while embracing an innovative forward-looking mindset. This team works cross functionally with systems, calibration, VDDV, TEXIL, Lab Operations teams to improve the speed, capability and capacity of VMEC teams.

Job Responsibilities:
Enable self-organizing, self-managing teams to deliver efficiency gains to lead to on-time product delivery with quality executions in an agile environment

- This is a Hybrid Position that requires the individual to be in office 3 or more days per week
Additional Description
Minimum Required Skills and Experiences:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering to include Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Mathematics.
- Minimum 7+ years of engineering experience related to embedded control system, calibration, related hardware, and/or safety critical system development.
- Demonstrated results in successful project execution
- Excellent multi-functional communication and leadership skills - able to get multiple teams moving in the same direction
- Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity while driving timely decision making
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Master of Science in Engineering and/or Master of Business Administration
- Leadership experience of teams of engineers responsible for developing or testing embedded control systems or related hardware.
- Prior experience in Mechatronic, Electric and Hydraulic Systems
- Experience managing a global team that is geographically dispersed
- Familiarity or experience working knowledge of embedded controls development tool sets - ( e.g. C/C++, Python, Jira, Git ecosystem, MatLab/Simulink, ETAS INCA )
