Description
Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Markham Elevation Centre (MEC) and/ or Oshawa Elevation Centre (OEC) three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
Low Voltage Quality Specialist is needed to ensure continuity with Low Voltage Electric Power domain which continues to be a high quality focus area and high customer interface that is significantly above the warranty target. This position is the single point "voice of the customer" supporting the Low Voltage Electric Power team acting as gatekeepers for Warranty IPTV/Compass/J.D. Power and Warranty Spend. Leading focus of the organization towards quality across all programs and analyzing customer issues that can be fed back to engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, CCA and other cross functional teams.

Low Voltage Quality Specialist is responsible for improving customer satisfaction by leading product resolution of warranty claims and other key customer satisfaction survey results.
What You'll Do
Key responsibilities are listed below, but may be expanded to support attainment of corporate goals:
The main task of a Quality Specialist is to understand the customer and ensure that their new vehicle is exceeding expectations. This will be achieved by reviewing several sources of data including DTC and State-of-Charge (SOC) data through OnStar, dealer warranty claim data, and applicable customer surveys.
- Analyze warranty data & OnStar telemetric data, categorize, compile and track claims by MOB (Make Or Buy)
- Lead Warranty top issue review with the stakeholders to communicate program or issue status and request owner updates on progress of issue resolution
- Close interaction with the big-data Electric Power team to conduct analysis of data obtained through OnStar
- Interact with and analyze incoming data, through the use of multiple dashboards set up to track battery SOC from the plant to the customer and beyond
- Ensure issues are partitioned correctly, captured in the issues tracking system and both temporary and permanent design changes are driven to closure
- Track trends and Pareto issues/prioritize issue resolution
- Follow up on Feld Product Reports (FPRs), 24-hour fast response to launch calls and service garage issues
- Compile and understand in-plant data to identify and contain emerging issues before they reach the field
- Participate and contribute in Lessons Learned activities and feed learnings forward into programs - Virtual, Prototype and Launch
- Maintain Top 20 issues list - report out to CPIT (Continuous Product Improvement Team) / Focus CPIT / daily calls, as needed
- Support read-across (common issue) sharing activities between vehicle programs
- Keep Product Warranty Engineers, Continuous Product Improvement Teams and System Management Teams up to date of QRD status
- Post launch support of field issue identification, analyzing 12V data and report to TAC (Technical Assistance Center)
- Compare customer performance to CTF fleet performance
- Additionally, the selected Quality Specialist will need to balance many tasks and select priorities that enable corporate quality goals to be achieved both in the GM North America (GMNA) and all other regions where our vehicles are sold.
- As with any business, being mindful of the financial aspects of our business will be imperative. While striving to improve quality performance, it is sound business to minimize the cost of these changes.
- This individual will be expected to use existing GM workflow systems to drive work and accountability to other regional QRD engineers who this individual will lead. This leadership is indirect, but getting these individual's buy-in, support and engagement is critical to the overall health of the QRD team's success.
- This position is a global assignment, meaning the selected individual will coordinate and lead discussions with all other regions, as needed (with GMNA being the priority).
- Travel may be required to suppliers, assembly plants and is estimated to not exceed 10% of total time.
- Communication to various engineering, manufacturing and supplier quality teams, both internal and external (suppliers) will be critical to success.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
• BS or BEng. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or in a related field.
• 5+ years of related experience with automotive or similar modules and / or systems experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in data analytics.
• Experience with Electromechanical design & diagnostics.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to work independently to solve highly complex problems and lead teams to consensus when needed.
• Automotive development experience with excellent knowledge of the Vehicle Development Process.
• High level of Interpersonal skill to work effectively with others including global partners.
• High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult.
• Experience with DFMEA.

- Design Release experience preferred
- Experience with Low Voltage Systems preferred
- DFSS Green Belt (Black Belt preferred)
