Onsite - This role requires the the employee to be onsite full time. The primary work location will be the General Motors Global Technical Center in Warren, MI. This role will require occasional travel to Kokomo, IN and other manufacturing sites. Expected travel between 25-75%
The Role
We are seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing System Design and Deployment organization within the Autonomous Robotic Center. This role involves ensuring the integrity and quality of manufacturing processes within the physical boundaries of the production facility. This job requires travel to support manufacturing equipment integration outside of the metro Detroit region. This person will be responsible for process design and optimization, quality assurance, equipment maintenance, safety compliance, collaboration, data analysis, problem-solving, continuous improvement, documentation, and training.

What You'll Do
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production within the facility's four walls.
- Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure that all products meet design specifications and industry standards.
- Oversee the maintenance and calibration of manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Ensure that all manufacturing equipment deployment and processes comply with safety regulations and standards, promoting a safe working environment
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Assurance, to support production goals and resolve any issues and deploy a manufacturing system to produce at rate.
- Analyze production data to identify trends, deviations, and areas for improvement. Use statistical methods to ensure process consistency and efficiency.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for any manufacturing issues. Implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
- Maintain detailed records of manufacturing processes, equipment maintenance, and quality control measures. Communicate findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
- Train and mentor team members on manufacturing processes, equipment operation, and quality control standards.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Proven experience in process design, quality assurance, and equipment maintenance.
- Demonstrated experience with torque monitoring and process control for fastening systems (IE Atlas Copco)
- Experience with electrical testing processes including continuity testing and functional testing
- Experience in safety compliance and buy off processes for manufacturing equipment (IE G-Comply)
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Relevant certifications such as Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing.
- Experience in specific industries such as automotive manufacturing or aerospace.
- Advanced degree in a related field.
