On-site: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Factory Zero on a full-time basis.

Factory ZERO is currently seeking a motivated and accomplished General Assembly Business Manager who will manage daily production operations inside Factory ZERO.

The Role:
The Launch Quality Engineer will support Factory Zero vehicle manufacturing in the launch of electric vehicles, document and contain quality issues occurring on second shift for the Cx and xL. Ability to coach, teach and audit elements of GM Quality Manual and GMS BIQ Principle and Elements to salaried personnel in addition to the represented workforce. Managerial Courage to provide direct, honest, constructive feedback to Plant Staffs in a subtle and professional manner. Present the Assembly Plant and Engineering Staff with clear problem definition, technical mentorship on complex problems, and regular updates on progress.
What You'll Do:
- Execute quality standards and procedures for the plant during launch
- Work with PPO QE, CME, IRT, DRE's during IV (Integration vehicle) builds, document all issues on Easel board and PRC/PRTS.
- Generate technical solutions applying 7 Diamond Process, Red X and other tools as applicable.
- Assist production in prevention of defect occurrence and recommend process changes.
- Work with suppliers to address SPPS/PRR issued and ensure robust countermeasures are implemented.
- Work with suppliers and engineering to develop inspection standards for parts and subassemblies.
- Share lessons learned with Engineering & plants with similar products to prevent repeat design or build issues.
- Review of non-conforming parts and sub-assemblies for accurate initial disposition and root cause follow-up.
- Coordinate periodic system and process audits at the plant and VAA, and quality evaluation of new vehicles with engineering and production.
- Coordinate engineering change implementation- TWO, EWO etc.
- Manage a clean transition of components with zero open item to plant continuous improvement team after launch team release.
- Write/Audit Product Quality Standards (PQS).
- Support SUFS/SCCT/PIR/OIR meetings for potential safety issues.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- 3+ years of experience in Automotive Engineering or Manufacturing space
- 2+ years of Leadership or Group Leader experience
- Demonstrate ability to attain results, while balancing technical solutions with business imperatives (cost, mass, quality, performance).
- Proven analytical problem solving skills with capability to identify solutions for unusual and complex problems.
- Must excel at problem solving - root cause, containment, robust long term solutions.
- Thorough understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimension & Tolerance)
- Thorough understanding of lean manufacturing concepts.
- Travel will be required for the role (30%+ travel)
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends, as needed.
- Must be shift flexible
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Previous vehicle diagnostic experience
- Previous General Assembly group leader experience
