Hybrid. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, Michigan three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
GM's Global Battery & Propulsion Engineering group is seeking an energetic, innovative, and team-oriented individual to join the Cell Development and Validation group. The candidate will ensure our EV battery cells delight our customers with built-in safety, reliability, and performance. In this role you will be building an understanding of the critical materials, features, and processes necessary to make an industry-leading EV battery cell.

Learn and grow in these areas
- Li-ion cell & sub-component key design characteristics and manufacturing processes
- Modeling and simulation necessary to create a "digital twin" of a battery cell to enable rapid development cycles
- Unified virtual and physical ADV planning
- Strategic management of resources (people, hardware, analysis time)
- Using risk-based analysis to determine hardware readiness for launch
- Creating & delivering informative and persuasive, executive-level communications
- Leading with influence and building relationships with advanced teams, program teams, analysis, software controls, calibration, and manufacturing
What You'll Do
- Planning and executing a risk-based comprehensive virtual and hardware-based Development, and Validation Plan
- Optimize cell designs through analysis, inspections, and/or physical tests
- Assess, quantify, and convey program risks to leadership for informed decision-making
- Develop DFMEAs, DRBFMs, and VCRIs for new battery cell programs and to respond to changes to existing programs
- Manage PRTSs, ECRs, and SORs for assigned programs
- Prioritize workload and negotiate resources necessary to support activities
- Mentor and advance training opportunities for new and/or less-experienced colleagues
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Math, Computer Science, Information Technology, and/or Chemistry
- Effective interpersonal skills when working with a team to solve complex problems
- Proficiency with strategic planning, analytical thinking, and process improvement
- Ability to shape clear & concise presentations while tailoring content to the specific audience
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of Li-ion cell design, virtual analysis, assembly, and testing methods
- A passion for engineering excellence and track record of seeking solution to challenging problems
- Experience with high-voltage batteries, electrified propulsion, or ICE propulsion
- Experience in the areas of validation, development, VMEC, calibration, and/or design release
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data and to make sound recommendations
- Experience with virtual modeling and simulation of mechanical, electrical, sealing, chemical/combustion systems
