Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Flint Assembly on a full-time basis.
The Role:
The Launch Quality Engineer is a key position that will support vehicle engineering in the implementation of Quality Requirements. The primary responsibility of this role is to support launch activities coming into Flint Assembly. This role will require the selected candidate to maintain documentation of Launch Manufacturing Quality Readiness Reviews. As well as actively participate in Plant Quality Manager Meetings & Launch Quality Manager Meetings. This will be a first shift position that may require some off-shift/over-time work.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- Coach, teach and audit elements of GM Quality Manual and GMS BIQ Principle and Elements.
- Provide direct, honest, constructive feedback to Plant Staffs / Executive Leadership in a subtle and professional manner.
- Present the Assembly Plant and Engineering Staff with clear problem definition, technical mentorship on complex problems, and regular updates on progress.
- Support Launch of new products in the plant when applicable.
- Maintain updates to Quality Requirements.
- Maintain Quality Requirement deviations from the plant.
- Maintain Cost of Quality reports by Plant.
- Monitor consistency to Global Metric Definitions and Performance.
- Manage projects as requested from Quality Launch Manager.
- Actively looks for opportunities to drive change and continuous improvement with current practices & processes.
- Exercises independent judgment in managing complex and ambiguous tasks with minimal input from Manager.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- 2 years of quality or engineering experience.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability to attain results, while balancing technical solutions with business imperatives.
- Excellent problem-solving skills - root cause, containment, robust long-term solutions.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work off-shift and over-time when needed.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- 4+ years of quality engineering experience.
- Vehicle launch experience.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Proficient use of GSIP, ECM, Excel, PRTS, SPPS, GQTS, Teamcenter, & MPDs and Microsoft Office Programs.
- Red X Technical Problem-Solving Experience.
- Proficiency and knowledge of the elements of the GM Quality System / GMS BIQ and of the Quality Launch Plan.
- Proficiency and knowledge of the requirements in the Global Quality Manual.
