Description

Work Arrangement

  • This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Markham Elevation Centre (MEC) on a full-time basis.

The Lab Technician will be responsible for working on test bench build, trouble shooting, wiring and harnesses.

  • Build, assemble and repair the test bench hardware such as wiring harnesses, cables, and boards.
  • Responsible for wiring needs - creating any necessary harnesses required for integrating different components together as well as extending/adding/fixing connections to existing harnesses.
  • Provide electrical support to Product Engineering on a variety of bench build and assignments.
  • Assist with the creation and testing of prototypes and making sure safety standards are being met.
  • Manage lab inventory - keeping items in stock, assisting coworkers in obtaining parts required and guiding coworkers and recommending components for their needs
  • Provide how to guidance for general lab tools (e.g. Solder stations, fume hoods, 3D Printing)
  • Provide electrical consultation and support to the Apparatus Safety Committee
  • Provide regular project status reports and complete as-built documents

Additional Description

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in electronics hardware design, debug, and test in automotive, mobile, or other embedded system domains
  • Ability to design and fabricate desk top chassis or enclosures to mount electronic bench testing components
  • Solid knowledge of hardware and software integration
  • Solid knowledge of hardware test and manufacturing process and tools
  • Experience with hardware project management and procurement process
  • Experience with electronics safety requirements
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, coordination skills, and interpersonal skills
  • Possess a valid Ontario G license and able to operate test vehicles
  • Automotive electronics knowledge desired but not required

Education

  • College diploma/certification in electronic engineering technology or electrical engineering technology
