Work ArrangementThis role is categorized as on-site. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to SGM in Shanghai, China five times per week.The Role -SGM's software and digital business organization is looking for a highly strategic, creative, and driven individual to serve as Director, China Digital Experience and Design for our organization. The team designs customer journeys and creates digital experiences across multiple brands and platforms, touching millions of lives across vehicle, web, mobile, voice, and wearable interfaces.As Director, China Digital Experience and Design you would lead a multi-function team to create and deliver world class experiences and design at enterprise scale. As an adept team leader, you will work with growing and perfecting the center of expertise in user experience for a large virtual design studio and ensure our creative, content, research, and product design teams deliver business value through design. It will be your responsibility to build partnerships with key stakeholders in global design, digital strategy, digital product and tech, and SGM brands to advance strategic design initiatives and mature user experience capability across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have extensive creative leadership experience, deep understanding of both human-centered design and agile methodologies, and a knack for communicating a vision to foster high-performing creative teams.What You'll Do - Customer ExperienceDefine design vision & design OKRs and overall customer journeyIdentify current and future design trends & analyzes potential opportunities and/or impact on the digital groupCreate overall customer journey for the digital experiences across all brandsDesign Practice ManagementGrow and direct a team of 100+ user experience staff including multi-disciplinary designers, researchers, and strategists at various contributor and management levelsDevelop and mature teams focused on creative, content, conversational, and product designManage relationships with and projects executed by third party design partners and agenciesCollaborate with design, product management, and technology leaders to implement operating standards for our studio to ensure speed to market, clear business impact, and design ROIFunction as a champion for user experience design across the enterprise, improving partnership and design influence and ensuring the best customer experience clarity and designed forCreative DirectionLead and function as the voice of creative design and direction for the China Software and Digital Business TeamIntegrate within global design to translate brand DNA into executable digital design languageDevelop, implement, and drive adoption of a multi-brand design systemAdvocate for world class digital brand experiences across the enterprise, including with senior leadershipDesign ResearchDevelop research and data-informed design approaches to ensure the customer's voice drives experience strategies and safeguard design quality in executionLeverage customer insights to explore and envision the future, champion advanced projects and initiatives with design at the forefront

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) 10+ years of experience creating user interfaces, digital products, or complex software applications across a range of channels5+ years of experience directly managing creative or design teamsBachelor's degree in Design, IT, Business, Engineering, Communications, or related disciplineProven record of creating successful digital products or experiences at enterprise scaleDeep expertise in the user experience design process, agile software development methodologies, and product development lifecyclesStrong portfolio with work samples displaying expertise in user experience design, creativity, and depth of thoughtWhat Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) Exceptional communication skills and the ability to articulate design decisions and rationale with clarity and objectivity; experience presenting to diverse audiences including senior leadershipStrong relationship building, influencing, and negotiation abilities with cross-functional and executive stakeholders
