On-site: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Springhill, Tennessee plant on a full-time basis.
The Role:
As a part of GM's Human Resources/Labor Relations team, you will perform day-to-day Human Resources and Labor Relations activities and partner with business function counterparts on initiatives that align with GM's objectives, mission and culture. You will work with assigned business function's HR and Labor teams, HR Communities of Expertise, and other stakeholders to build engagement, increase output, and attract and retain talent.
What You'll Do:
This position will provide Human Resources/Labor guidance to management on people related matters including labor relations issues, performance management, employee relations, staffing, salary administration, talent development, compensation, benefits, occupational health and safety, etc. The position also assist in establishing new processes or modifying existing ones to improve the efficiency of assigned area(s). This role has direct responsibility for providing support for all human resources and labor relations-related activities within the site. The position reports directly to the Site HR Director.

- Negotiating strategies and contract negotiations with the Union and Labor Relations
- Provide assistance in establishing priorities and strategic plans for assigned area(s) based upon general direction from leader.
- Assist in developing policies and procedures for assigned area(s).
- Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of assigned area(s); recommend changes where appropriate.
- Respond to requests for information from internal customers regarding human resources programs and labor relation issues; communicate effectively with others outside of department at all levels of the organization.
- Manage relationships with employees at various levels throughout the organization, including supervisors, managers, senior executives, union representatives, and other key individuals who influence the work force.
- Supports local market team members as well as corporate HR staff through coaching, mentoring, consulting, training, and facilitation.
- Utilize excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage relationships internally and externally, ensuring that concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
- Collaborates with Corporate Labor Team and the Local HR Team to identify, develop, implement, and maintain human resource/labor practices and procedures which result in the most effective utilization of personnel.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Assist in cost reduction activities and monitors expenditures.
- Analytical capability, drive decisions based on data.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Description
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor, Psychology, or equivalent experience required.
- 2-3+ years of experience in Human Resources/Labor Relations with experience in working in manufacturing environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of employment law.
- Ability to coach, counsel, and influence leaders at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive situations and confidential matters.
- High level of integrity, diplomacy, discretion, and judgment.
- Must be able to use independent judgment and work unsupervised.
- Proficient in English language, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be shift flexible, as needed
