Work Arrangement:
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM's Flint and/or Grand Blanc location three times per week, at a minimum.
The Role:
GM's Heritage Operations are comprised of the Durant-Dort Carriage Company Factory One, the GM Heritage Center and the GM Archive, located at the Heritage Center. Both facilities, located in Flint and Grand Blanc, Michigan, respectively, offer inclusive visitor experiences for both internal and external customers.
What You'll Do
In this newly created role, you will manage Heritage Center and Factory One events. The Heritage Event Venue and Business Development Lead is responsible for developing and cultivating new business opportunities and clients to optimize appropriate use of the facilities, including corporate, enthusiast, employee, and public events. The role will include some evening and infrequent weekend events.

- Respond to requests for meeting space, event space, and/or tours in a timely manner.
- Work with clients to understand needs of their event, recommend and schedule use of conference rooms and/or event spaces.
- Coordinate event logistics to ensure event support needs are met including setup/cleanup, tours, docents, etc.
- Develop and maintain recommended caterer and service provider list.
- Write contracts, review insurance coverage, and process payments.
- Maintain event calendars and coordinate support needs.
- Communicate with leadership and facility maintenance to ensure the venues remain safe and well-equipped for hosting events.
- Work closely with the heritage leadership team to strengthen and promote GM Heritage Operations, ensuring business goals are accomplished and aligned with General Motors objectives.
- Identify, establish, and grow strategic business partnerships to enhance community engagement.
- Plan and project staffing needs for current and future work, participating in the selection, orientation, supervision, and evaluation of staff as required.
- In the near term, this leader will identify the functional needs of the Heritage Center event space and work closely with project architects to ensure requirements are met. This will necessitate comprehending the needs of caterers, audio/visual and lighting, valet services, and other event service providers.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required)
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related field or equivalent work experience.
- Must have at least 5+ years of experience in managing schedules, meetings, and events.
- Demonstrate highly developed communication and relationship management skills.
- Must have strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
- Ability to plan effectively, often in an ambiguous and changing environment.
- Ability to influence without authority.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small team to achieve both individual and shared objectives.
- Willingness to work late hours and weekends as required.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge:
- 8+ years of experience in managing schedules, meetings, and events.
- Contract management experience
