Work Arrangement

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, Michigan three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

The Enterprise Innovation Tech Center of Excellence team provides services including prototype and production-minded product development, technical knowledge sharing, and creating intellectual property (IP) within the Enterprise Innovation's organization.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with GM Enterprise Innovation teams to understand user requirements for product features
  • Design, develop, document, and maintain embedded hardware for various required solutions
  • Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and optimization of embedded hardware designs
  • Ensure hardware quality, compliance with industry standards, and participate in technical reviews
  • Interface regularly with cross-functional GM teams such product owners, vehicle and software engineers, firmware developers, cybersecurity, open-source org, etc.
  • Collaborate with suppliers

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related engineering degree
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded hardware development
  • 3+ years of experience strong understanding of digital and analog circuit design principles
  • 3+ years of experience Knowledge of microcontroller/microprocessor architectures and interfaces
  • 3+ understanding of embedded systems architecture and hardware-software interaction

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Software Engineering experience a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering
  • Knowledge of embedded Edge AI computer hardware
  • Familiarity with industry standards and compliance (e.g., ISO, IEC, FCC)
  • Familiarity with hardware description languages (HDL) like Verilog or VHDL is a plus
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, Eagle, KiCad)
  • Experience with FPGA development and programmable logic devices
  • Understanding of low-power design techniques for battery-powered systems
  • Familiarity with version control systems and issue tracking tools
  • Knowledge with on-board communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, etc.) and device driver development
  • Familiarity with IOT communication protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi, etc.)
  • Knowledge of high-speed digital design and protocols (e.g., DDR, PCIe, USB)
  • Experience with signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC/EMI considerations in hardware design
