On-site: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Lansing Delta Township ASSY on a full-time basis.
The Role:
As a leader in Materials, you will be responsible for implementing and executing the established business process for an area of greater complexity in the production operations while fostering an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS, focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE).

What You'll Do:
- Promote safe work environment with proper housekeeping standards and workplace organization.
- Conduct safety talks, job instruction training, ergonomic evaluations, and safety incident report & investigation.
- Provide environment which stimulates team member's involvement & personal growth by maintaining communications, soliciting suggestions, development training plan, attendance records, performance improvement, standardized work, support team meetings, job rotation, and work with UAW to resolve problems.
- Understand and comply with the terms of local and national labor agreements.
- Drive Departmental Success on imperatives and Business Plan Deployment targets, include data analytics (Open on line Champion, Daily Manpower Placement and End of Shift Communications).
- Lead GM-GMS execution in area.
- Have the managerial courage to lead Daily and Weekly expectations with authority across all functions within the department
- Manage Operational metrics (Safety, Quality, Throughput & Cost) - drive countermeasures within the Team
- Maintain awareness of quality standards and processes and leverage resources to solve quality problems. Implements problem solving processes.
- Mentor and Coach other Group Leaders in the Department
- Liaise with customers for quality problems and co-ordinate countermeasures.
- Respond to work environment to meet production schedule.
- Ensure cost control achieves budget needs.
- Cover for the Shift Leader or other Group Leaders in his/her absence
- Lead CI activities to continuously improve safety, throughput and quality
- Supports departmental initiatives to eliminate unnecessary energy usage and promotes recycling initiatives
- Be involved with extra-curricular such as PMN, WIM, GMAN, Career Ambassadors etc
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing GSC (Global Supply Chain)
- Advanced understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Prior supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of continuous improvement processes (CIP).
- Ability to work any shift on a rotating basis
- Ability to work OT as needed.

- Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
