The Role-
SDV SOFTWARE ENGINEER: Body Controls Calibration Engineer
Here at General Motors, we are looking for a hard-working person who enjoys taking on challenges and following through with robust solutions to join our Body Control Calibration team! BCM/ELM calibration engineers work with vehicles, software, and algorithms to design and release BCM/ELM calibrations to meet customer designs and performance requirements. They support the lead calibrator and software strategist, as well as stakeholders including the members of the vehicle platform, hardware, manufacturing plant and quality team. These are meaningful roles that ensures the integration to vehicles performs at world class levels to meet program objectives.

This is an entry-level calibration position. The candidate is learning to motivate others, is learning to manage multiple projects and deadlines, and is learning a specific vehicle system/component domain.
What you will do -
- Follow documented procedures to calibrate systems to meet product goals, and provide feedback for continuous improvement (Calibration Bill of Materials - CALBOM)
- Develop Body Controls Configuration/Performance Calibrations for deployment to GM Vehicle Programs
- Investigate and research calibration settings based on CALBOM notes
- Support requirements development with other activities to determine part proliferation
- Author Engineering Change Requests (ECR)
- Upload calibration bundle(s) for push to VeSCom
- Support root cause analysis
- Ability to efficiently capture and analyze empirical data.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices
- Identify and document calibration vulnerabilities; track corrective actions
- Attend software VSE meetings (Controls Manager) and report back timing
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) -
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related Engineering degree
- More than 3 years of work experience in automotive industry and minimum of 2 years of experience in the related engineering field.
- Experience with data acquisition and analysis on complex problems
- Knowledge of vehicle systems
- Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate test vehicles
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) -
- Master of Science in Engineering
- Experience with in-vehicle testing, and calibration
- Experience with Vehicle Spy data acquisition
- Experience with scripting (Matlab, Python, etc.) for making processes more efficient
- Automotive OEM experience
