The Role

The General Motors Global Social Marketing team is looking for a dynamic Cross-Brand Portfolio Social Strategy Manager. This newly created role will be pivotal in shaping GM's social media strategy and brand engagement across our key brands: Buick, Cadillac, Chevy, GMC, and OnStar. You will lead a team of subject matter experts and execute best-in-class social media campaigns that resonate with diverse customer demographics across established and emerging platforms.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Team Leadership : Guide a team of social media experts to execute data-driven campaigns that achieve brand and business KPIs.


  • People Development: Coach & develop team of individual contributor SMEs to influence with authority throughout the organization. Develop depth and breadth off their social media skillsets (paid/owned/earned), and nurture professional growth of individuals and as a high functioning team.


  • Collaborative Strategy Development : Partner with brand strategy leaders to create cohesive campaign architectures and key messaging for owned social platforms (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, YouTube).


  • Social Content Strategy: Collaborate with creative & agency teams to develop and deliver a social-first content strategy that elevates brand presence.


  • Social Forward, Insights-Driven Briefing: Work with brand & agency teams to develop briefs rooted in consumer research and social trends for seasonal and quarterly initiatives.


  • Cultural & Platform Forward Prioritization: Develop a consumer moments x mindset matrix to align cultural priorities with our core consumers' life stages.


  • Competitive, Best Practice & Industry Monitoring : Stay informed on consumer insights and market trends to refine brand positioning and value propositions. Continuously seek new ways to implement best practices across brands and rapidly scale learnings.


  • Content Calendar Management : Oversee the team leading creation and management of the social marketing content calendar, ensuring alignment with internal teams (Communications, Brand Marketing, Product Marketing, etc.).


  • Drive Advocacy via Social Communities Engagement: Alongside Influencer marketing leader, develop earned/creator/UGC syndication and amplification strategy


  • Performance Monitoring : Collaborate with the internal Marketing Intelligence Team to track key social and brand health metrics, assessing the impact of social activities on overall success.


  • Operational Efficiency : Ensure consistent methodologies, ways of working, and practices across brands to improve efficiency, resources and speed to market.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 7-10+ years in Social Media, Brand Engagement, or Consumer Communications Strategy & Execution.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of the social media landscape, platforms, and industry trends.
  • Ability to articulate a strong POV and defend it with data-driven insights.
  • Skill in aligning social media plans with business objectives and core priorities.
  • Strong ability to convey strategies and plans clearly.
  • Proven experience leading teams and driving collaborative success.
  • Familiarity with social-first and brand engagement agencies, partners / platforms and tools.
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and analytical skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects.
  • High proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
