Onsite : This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Wyoming, Michigan on a full-time basis.
The Role
We are seeking a Facilities Engineer Lead to serve as engineering liaison for facility operations, including but not limited to providing technical expertise necessary for proper physical operation of facilities equipment, central plant systems equipment, and provide technical direction to and oversight of resident contracted facilities services. Typical functions include building/property maintenance and housekeeping, providing engineering support and troubleshooting, asset sustainment, and equipment lifecycle planning. Work is performed in a components plant where creativity and initiative is exercised as well as independent judgment.

What You'll Do
- Provide technical direction to service providers performing equipment maintenance or housekeeping on facilities systems
- Manage contracted facilities services to meet GM's safety requirements including performing safety observation tours in accordance with safety contract management.
- Responsible to support/own and execute assigned Workplace Safety System Technical Standard and GM-Global Manufacturing System principles and elements for facilities operations
- Support maintenance and production on continuous improvement projects for all central filters, production chillers, and mist/dust collectors
- Reduce equipment operation costs, optimize equipment efficiency and reduce energy and water consumption
- Monitor, optimize and direct adjustments required on the mist collection systems to ensure proper draw and air quality
- Support launch of new programs at equipment runoff, installation, debug, and release to production
- Oversee installation or demolition of central system equipment for engineering projects (NPP and continuous improvement projects that require PDPM/contractor support)
- Scope and procure demolition/installation and/or engineering resources as necessary and manage scope delivery through to the completion of the project
- Ensure that project planning and management of facilities assets is executed by the team including asset condition management documentation in the ACAP tool.
- Interface and coordinate with local businesses and regulatory agencies as required to support the function of facilities operations
- Work with and within the facilities engineering and environment team in support of facilities management and environmental initiatives
- Support the plant in emergency response/disaster recovery and business resumption planning
- Communicate facilities operations daily activities through end of shift emails as well as communicate planned or unplanned business-related disruptions.
- Available to work alternative shift schedules, including weekends & holidays.

Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities
- College degree with major in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering and/or related experience
