Description
Leads, guides and directs a large group of technical employees responsible for engineering deliverables in support of vehicle software quality. Manages execution of end to end software quality tasks for an assigned set of software products. Provides technical leadership to the team and defines strategic initiatives. Collaborates with Product, Program, Systems and Engineering Development teams to align on scope, strategy and timing. Leads team on new methods or initiatives without defined procedures. Leads team to meet targets.
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report onsite at the GM Global Technical Center - Sloan Engineering Center at least three times per week minimum or other frequency dictated by the business. This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.

Responsibilities
- Manages daily work for a group of software quality engineers with goal of ensuring the end to end quality of a subset of vehicle features.
- Directs team to develop sustainable and effective test strategy including implementation of key automation initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team to align software quality strategy and timing.
- Ensures test execution, issue triage, automation development goals are met within the team.
- Identifies & leads staffing initiatives for work team.
- Conducts regularly scheduled Group Meetings, Communicates GM Policies & Procedures, Leadership and Safety Messages.
- Insures employees complete all mandatory GM training and any specific training related to functional responsibility.
- Understands & supports employee's career development goals. Develops and executes initiatives to improve work team capability and increase work team capacity.
- Reviews deliverables and provides candid & constructive feedback. Conducts performance interventions when necessary.
- Participates in compensation planning and administers compensation treatment.
Additional Description
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or other equivalent degree.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in an automotive or embedded product development organization.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience developing or testing software.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience successfully managing or leading a software development or QA engineers.
- In depth experience with Scrum/Agile software development process and SCM tools like Git, Gerrit, OpenGrok, Jira, and Xray
- Experience developing or testing complex systems crossing multiple OS's and developed by multiple teams and suppliers.
- Quality control of integration including managing verification, identifying critical issues, and leading cross functional issue resolution.
- Outstanding written and oral communications skills.
- Proven, key leadership traits and skills: collaborative work style, integrity, creativity, objectivity, assertiveness, effectiveness, responsibility, honesty, reliability, strong business acumen.
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Development experience on multi-disciplinary teams in the infotainment, consumer electronics, or related software industries.
- A passion for innovation and raising the bar in teams, technology, and projects.
- An analytical mind that thrives in a data-driven environment.
- Operating systems experience with one or more of the following: QNX, Linux, Android.
- Experience with automation script design and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering.
- Prior experience with vehicle infotainment systems or backoffice systems.
- Experience with automotive and/or portable consumer electronic devices.
- Experience with Robot Framework.
Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington
- Compensation: The expected base compensation for this role is : $165,000 - $253,200 Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
- Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.

Company Vehicle : Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note : program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
