Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Tech Center on a full-time basis.
The Role
We are excited to announce that we are actively seeking talented individuals for two distinct and dynamic roles associated with this posting: a Controls Engineer and a Robot Engineer. Join us in shaping the future of automotive technology!
These engineering positions will include the design, build, and troubleshooting of electrical control or robotic systems for machinery and equipment that manufacture best-in-class and tech-forward vehicles.
As a Controls or Robotics Engineer, you will be applying your technical expertise to deliver exceptional vehicles that inspire customer loyalty. You will help implement standards and procedures as you work alongside with automation system suppliers to coordinate machine modification needs with engineering and maintenance.

Other typical duties include developing, debugging, and troubleshooting control logic programs or robot programs along with other related functions at either the supplier or plant site.
What You'll Do
- Support procurement and launch of new and major programs related to controls and robotics
- Maintain effective communication with vendors, GM IT, and other internal engineering disciplines, as well as management at both plant and headquarters
- Diagnose and rectify deficiencies in manufacturing processes
- Stay updated on emerging controls technologies, including robotics, computer graphics, and computer controls (CNC, PLC, PC, HMI, networks)
- Drive the deployment of new technologies to minimize operational risks
- Evaluate manufacturing processes and equipment for efficiency and effectiveness
- Collaborate on simultaneous engineering activities with Manufacturing Engineering (ME) and equipment supplier representatives from a controls and robotics perspective
- Support the development of ME error-proofing plans
- Participate in safety g-Risk activities with cross-functional teams
- Review and approve control drawings and conduct control run-offs at OEM sites
- Address and assist with operational problems as needed
- Actively engage and support manufacturing operations groups
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience or training
- Proven controls experience in a manufacturing environment (Controls Engineer)
- Proficient in PLC programming, including ladder logic and schematics (Controls Engineer)
- Familiarity with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, and/or Rockwell automation systems (Controls Engineer)
- Expertise in robot programming and integration within a manufacturing setting (Robot Engineer)
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- 1 or more years of hands-on PLC work experience (Controls Engineer)
- 2+ years Fanuc robot setup, programming, and troubleshooting (Robot Engineer)
- A degree or training in Mechatronics
