Work Arrangement: Hybrid : This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Markham Elevation Centre (MEC) three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
We are seeking a Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Specialist to join our Solution Quality Assurance Team as a scrum member within the Chassis and Brake Controls organizations. This role supports Agile Release Trains and involves ensuring software and hardware testing for Chassis, Suspension, and Brake systems in ICE, Electric, and Autonomous vehicles, aligning with regulatory and industry best practices.
The SQA Specialist will contribute to requirements development for laboratory (SIL and HIL) testing, in-vehicle verification, data analysis, and performance verification. The role also includes developing Python-based automated test scripts based on production codes, MATLAB Simulink models, and validation plant models including CarSim, in support of algorithm development scrums transitioning to virtual testing platforms as part of the VDDV 2025 initiative.

What You'll Do ( Roles & Responsibilities)
• Develop and define testing strategies, both manual and automated, to ensure high-quality outcomes.
• Implement test plans and setups to meet functional, safety, and compliance requirements.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to identify software anomalies and performance issues early in the development process.
• Identify and resolve software issues; contribute to a knowledge base for common software errors and corner cases.
• Manage interactions with software version control systems and coordinate database retention efforts across teams.
• Collaborate frequently with cross-functional teams to define effective acceptance criteria.
• Conduct HIL & SIL or vehicle-level software verification.
• Participate in the software change management process as per the GM agile framework.
• Travel as required
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Software, Electrical, Computer Engineering or in a related field
• Minimum 2 years of embedded software development and testing experience.
• Proficiency in reading and debugging C/C++ source code.
• Proficiency with Python or similar scripting languages (R, C, VBA, etc.).
• Practical knowledge of DevOps CI/CD concepts.
• Experience with automation servers such as Jenkins.
• Basic knowledge of controls theory and the software development process.
• Familiarity with software configuration management processes (e.g., GitHub, SVN).
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and work independently.
• High level of interpersonal skills for effective collaboration in a geographically dispersed
team.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada and ability to travel to the US.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
• Automotive experience in vehicle dynamics (chassis, suspension, brake, and steering).
• Experience with testing methods and techniques, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
• Proficiency with MATLAB Simulink/Stateflow.
• Experience with software peer reviews.
• Experience in developing real-time embedded control systems.
• Experience with structured software engineering in ANSI C.
• Experience with test automation, regression testing, and test procedure creation.
• Proficiency with software test tools (e.g., CppUTest, Simulink Test/SIL).
• Knowledge of hardware I/O level controllers.
• Familiarity with CAN and LIN communication protocols and associated tools (e.g., ETAS INCA, NeoVI VSpy, Vector CANoe).
• Experience with CarSim, dSPACE/Control Desk, or similar HIL tools.
• Knowledge of MISRA C and CERT C standards.
• Understanding of AUTOSAR software architecture.
• Experience working in an agile environment.
