The Role:
As a Buyer in GM Defense, you will be responsible for the purchasing of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services. You will be responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and interface with suppliers or internal stakeholders.
What You'll Do:
- Execute both SOR and DCR Sourcings
- Issuing of Part, Spot Buy, and Tooling Purchasing Contracts
- Completion and retention of required Documents to support both GMD internal and Government / Customer requirements
- Execution of Engineering DCR's (Defense Change Requests)
- Work on cost reduction activities
- Manage Supplier Relations
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or related field required
- A minimum of 2+ years relevant Purchasing experience
- Experience with commodities (metals, stampings, castings, plastics, resins, paint, electronics, etc.)
- Experience managing commercial issues with suppliers and assessing supplier performance
- Experience with SAP and MRP systems
- Demonstrated competence in negotiating skills
- High level of analytical ability where problems can be extremely complex
- Ability to work effectively cross functionally, both internally and externally and build relationships
- Developed organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines

Role subject to U.S. export control restrictions. Successful candidates must either be a U.S. Person (defined by U.S. law as a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) or a non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required export control authorization.

- Defense industry experience

- Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
