Description

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Markham Elevation Centre & Oshawa Elevation Centre, three times per week at minimum between the 2 sites. .

Reporting to the Director of Strategy and Business Planning, the Business Planning Manager leads long-term forecasting activities for GM Canada, manages key strategic projects and supports business planning.

Key Responsibilities

Business Planning and Performance Management Processes

  • Support development and tracking of Canada's strategic planning priorities and goals
  • Plan and facilitate annual Business Functional Reviews to align GM Canada business units
  • Support executive forums such as weekly Canadian Executive Committee (CEC) meetings
  • Lead strategy and business planning workshops (including with leadership teams) as needed
  • Assist with the coordination and flow of new ideas and programs throughout GM Canada
  • Conduct business casing, value analysis and strategic assessment of new opportunities for GM Canada; conduct similar analysis for emerging challenges
  • Maintain existing, and develop new, data analytics dashboards/reports

Long Term Forecasting

  • Lead long term vehicle forecasting activities for Canada
  • Initiate and lead business planning activities for annual volume forecast cycles - 10 years
  • Build Canadian vehicle forecasts; Maintain and input volumes into Global Forecast System
  • Collaborate with Brand, Compliance, Distribution, and Finance teams on the long-term plan
  • Participate in global Long-Term Forecasting calls and forums to provide Canadian input
  • Be the local expert on global Long-Term Forecasting methods and techniques
  • Understand macro-economic factors and trends that will shape the Canadian auto industry
  • Work closely with Portfolio Planning and Regulatory teams to ensure compliance

Other

  • Prepare content and make presentations to all levels of management
  • Manage and execute growth strategy or change projects as required
  • Support AI Strategy by collaborating on empathy work and requirements gathering
  • Participate or lead Cultural activities as required
  • Support on special projects and analyses as required

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (including PowerPoint Wizardry)

  • Must be results-driven, highly organized, and self-motivated; taking initiative and following-through

Education and Training:

  • Bachelors degree required; Advanced degree in business, marketing, finance, or engineering preferred;
  • Advanced Excel, Power BI and Tableau experience beneficial;
  • OpEx Project Leader, Red X, Design Thinking, GMS, Lean Workshops, Value Stream Mapping or DFSS would be beneficial.

Location:

In-person collaboration is immensely valuable for this Hybrid role, so an average of three days in-office per week is required. Location will be split between OEC and MEC sites depending on where stakeholders are on a given day. Infrequent, occasional travel within U.S. and Canada required.
