Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren on a full-time basis.
The Role
The Battery Module Root Cause Engineer is responsible for the testing, diagnosis, teardown and root causing of all warranty issues for cell module assemblies on our EV launches. The Battery Module Root Cause role is key to drive lessons learned back to Product and Manufacturing. This job also provides a unique opportunity to experience many systems, as well as the manufacturing and propulsion launch process. In addition, you will work in close collaboration with our Module Design Engineering and Quality Engineering counterparts as well as Program Teams and the Plant Launch Team and report out to Leadership on a regular basis.

What You'll Do
- Lead teardown and root causing of module failures
- Work with Sr. team members in all modules related issues (cells, structure components, and sensing/bussing components, etc.)
- Participate and facilitate with meeting forums to review issues and timing with the DREs
- Provide proper preliminary root cause analysis to ensure appropriate assignment of PRTS issues
- Work with Product Engineering as needed for independent studies to improve design parameters
- Develop methods as needed to perform root causing.
- Assist with containment plans as required.
- Participate with top issues reviews and report out to plant and program leadership.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent technical degree
- 5+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of post-graduation engineering experience
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
- High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
- Ability to read and understand automotive electrical schematics
- Well versed in the use of general laboratory type equipment beyond being an end user.
- Experience with hands-on diagnostics and repair of electrical and mechanical systems
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- Well versed with Battery lab, materials lab and fastener process and protocols
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes
- Ability to lift, move and disassemble module assemblies during testing and evaluation
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Master's degree in electrical engineering
- Experience in Electric Vehicle technology specifically in the Ultium Space
- High Voltage Level 2 Certification
- DFSS - Black Belt
- Good understanding of material science (basic physics)
- Understanding of engineering theory, design, and vehicle systems
- Strong interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally
- Understanding of component, subsystem and system integration
- Understanding of manufacturing processes
