Hybrid: This means the successful candidate is expected to report to their primary location (Mountain View, CA OR Warren, MI) three times per week, at minimum.

The Role:

The role will work with MiMo cellular networks, radar, and other technologies that use radio waves.

The automotive wireless space is a challenge and exciting filed with an ever-increasing demand on high performance wireless interfaces, including MIMO 5G, WiFi 7, high performance GNSS, V2X, BLE, UWB, NTN and traditional broadcast technologies, Connected vehicle customer experience is strongly influenced by the delivery of optimized RF solutions that need to balance styling, aerodynamics, cost, and performance. With the rapid grown of these technologies it has become fundamental for original equipment vehicle manufactures to design and develop solutions that meet the needs of advanced vehicle programs.

In this role the candidate will be hands on designing, developing, tuning core antenna technologies that enable advancement in performance, cost, physical antenna volume, and fast to market capabilities.

What You'll do:

  • Lead design efforts for RF structures and subsystem assemblies for 5G 4x4 MIMO, L1/L5 GNSS, SXM, V2X, and BLE antenna technologies
  • Hands on simulations and prototyping to develop antenna designs.
  • Analysis and testing of designs.
  • Predicting assembly level performance through selecting materials, components, and packaging approaches, RF chain analysis, electromagnetic simulation, data collection and analysis, and other modeling techniques
  • Working directly with component level design peers integrating design into modules and vehicle level applications.
  • Collaborating with peer functions such as Mechanical, PCB Layout, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Test.
  • Lead prototyping efforts through additive manufacturing, rapid tooling, including PCB design to fabrication.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Sr Electrical Engineering or related STEM field degree: Masters degree or higher with 10 years of RF/microwave experience including HFSS / CST simulation.
  • Proven track record of leading RF design efforts from conception through high volume production on accelerated timescale
  • Proficient with RF simulation and software tools such as HFFS, CST, ANSYS, MATLAB, Keysight ADS, and UNIGAPHICS
  • Working knowledge of near filed spherical measurement systems, including ability to utilize Vector Network Analyzer
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills having lead teams of engineers in the RF discipline.
  • Comfortable in dealing with ambiguity and delivering results on reduced time schedule.
  • Develop and building a working level relationship with external supplier partners to advance antenna technology including leading ceramic patch, stamped and formed, and, printed circuit board manufacturers.
  • Define source-able subcomponent requirements based on core design.

Years' Required Experience

  • 5 years RF and microwave technologies, including HFSS, ADS and CST simulation
  • 5 years RF design from conception through high volume production on accelerated timescale
  • 3 years Advanced Engineering Design for Proof of Concept
  • 5 Years RF simulation and software tools, including HFFS, ANSYS, and MATLAB
  • 5 Years Spherical measurement systems, including ability to utilize Vector Network Analyzer
  • 3 years IoT and Connectivity Related Electronics
  • 7 Years overall Antenna Development

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)

  • Proven automotive antenna development portfolio showcasing creative solutions to challenging integration environments.
  • Strong written skills using Microsoft office products such as project, power point, and excel
  • Track record of innovative thinking with publications and patents

Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.

The salary range for this role is $ $168,000 - 258,800.00. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
