Work Arrangement

This role is categorized as on-site. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to HQ Building in Shanghai, China five times per week.

The Role -

The Aftersales Service Engineer supports the validation of Service diagnostic and program system. And this role is responsible for local service validation work of Service Program System for specific modules registration after replacement. The role also is responsible for special tools readiness and labor time guide relevant works. The role also provides level 2 technical support to assist the technical service operation team to repair vehicles Right First Time (RFT). The role supports to solve service issues for the programs during pre-launch and post-launch.

The Aftersales Engineer role is responsible to support on aftersales deliverables such as Service information; Special tool; GDS (Global diagnostic system) / SPS (service programming system) / MVCI (Multiple Vehicle Connect Interface), and other launch needed support.

What You'll Do -

  • Support and assist on dealer reported issues and close the issue in time
  • Coordinate with GMNA and related China team to improve the issue report/solve process
  • Support ad-hoc projects
  • To ensure Service Program and Diagnostic System are delivered to meet Aftersales Readiness requirements and timing.
  • Support and ensure all issues about Service Program and Diagnostic System are resolved, tracked, and escalate issues as required.
  • Support local service validation of Service Program System for specific modules as requested (can be only validated in China).
  • Support to validate NFC cards learning work process for new launch programs.
  • Provide serviceability technical supports during pre-launch and post-launch.
  • Be responsible to issue the IT Statement of Requirement as required.
  • Assist and support aftersales operation team in various accounts applying process for new ASO. ce engineer, product engineering and quality team as required.
  • Manage all aspects of the Aft
  • Assist in the issue resolution from field serviersales Engineering validation events (parts, vehicle, resource, etc.)
  • Support the VTL (vehicle tool list) for the new launch programs. And ensuring all the tools after rationalization will be delivered to meet Aftersales Readiness requirements and timing.
  • Be responsible to feed the Labor Time Guide to DMS by quarterly, and solve the issues as required.
  • Optimize or establish the Process or workflows:
  • Optimize the work processes to improve the efficiency of resolving SPS and GDS issues.
  • Improve the workflow for special tool based on the lessons learned.
  • Establish the work process of module registration after replacement with the cross-functional team.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Fluency (spoken and written) in English and Chinese
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering and/or Automotive or above
  • Excellent communication, presentation and training delivery skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills required to develop internal & external relationships
  • Capable/comfortable working with multi-national professionals
  • Able to work in a detailed-data environment and perform considerable data analysis
  • Strong understanding of China automotive service practices for electric and internal combustion vehicles
  • Knowledge and understanding of dealer operations
  • Familiarity of GM engineering standards, processes and terms a plus

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • A minimum of 10-years' experience in Automotive Aftersales service information, tools and equipment, labor time, vehicle service diagnostics, or related experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of automobile vehicle construction, operation, and servicing procedures.
  • Preference of working in a detailed-data environment while performing considerable data analysis
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical principles of operation and diagnostic procedures includes dealer and engineering tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of onboard diagnostic's, serial data communications, protocols, and IT backend.
  • knowledge of GM aftersales process and systems, SGM JV aftersales process knowledge
  • Thorough understanding of Product Features and Service needs
  • Thorough knowledge of Global Vehicle Development Process.
