Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI on a full-time basis.
The Role
The ideal candidate will possess skill sets in several of the following functions: Strong mechanical aptitude, considerable experience/knowledge of automotive & aeronautical assembly processes, tools, methods, and quality expectations. Able to make most job-related decisions without assistance and expected to mentor/motivate team members with suggestions and guidance. Must demonstrate ability to work through critical and/or multiple issues through past work experience. Verbal and written communication skills must be suitable for interaction with all levels of management.

What You'll Do
- Supervise a small group of Fabrication and General Assembly technicians in support of the organization's business objectives and deliverables.
- Ensure a "Safety first" operational environment and lead corporate safety initiatives.
- Direct & Lead team in the execution of builds to specified milestones.
- Translates business objectives into actionable deliverables for the work group. Supports leading new processes and methods in line with departmental goals.
- Achieve operational excellence by meeting performance milestones & metrics.
- Ensure quality process discipline working with Quality Engineering Lead
- Lead & Support Continuous Improvement throughout the facility.
- Conducts regularly scheduled Group Meetings, Communicates GM Policies & Procedures, Leadership and Safety Messages
- Ensures employees complete all mandatory GM training and any specific training related to functional responsibility.
- Champion daily BPD board reviews, Safety observation Tours, and Workplace Organization initiatives.
- Assigns and manages workload of team members to support build timing and EWR walk in work.
- Ability to diagnose and trouble shoot issues during vehicle builds.
- Ability to read complex engineering drawings.
- Creative in solving project issues. Comprehension of root cause analysis and problem-solving tools
- Ability to engage multiple issues and achieve results with little or no supervision.
- Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineers, managers, and peers.
- Ability to work cohesively within a team setting.
- Exhibit a desire to mentor and lead.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required qualifications)
- Bachelor's or Associate degree in a job related field
- Technical course work, training, professional certifications, or relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- 10+ years of automotive / aerospace experience to include both fabrication and low volume or prototype builds.
- 5+ years of automotive or aerospace build and assembly processing
- 5+ years Supervisory experience
- U.S. citizenship needed to obtain required Secret U.S. Security Clearance
- Demonstrated experiences that include any combination of the following:
- 3+ years within a parts fabrication environment.
- 3+ years of automotive or aeronautical assembly, or component processing
- 3+ years of low volume prototype vehicle builds.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Working knowledge of TeamCenter, NX, & Vis Mockup
- Experience using or working with Hexagon Scanning systems and Polyworks Software
- Familiarity with SharePoint Web Page functionality
- Understanding of Microsoft Project usage and creation
- Certified Welder or Inspector
