Work Arrangement :
Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Global Technical Center in Warren, MI on a full-time basis.

Our Global Communications team strives for ways to engage our customers and stakeholders through earned media, strengthen and protect GM's reputation and tell stories from across the entire organization that reflect our industry leadership. What You'll Do:
The Communications team works in critical areas of the business and our interns could be assigned to focus areas such as:
- Product/Brand: Media relations, product knowledge, story pitching, social media, employee communications, teamwork and collaboration with other functions, including Marketing and Engineering, as well as executive communications
- Manufacturing: Employee communications, product knowledge, union partner relationships, media relations, public policy/government relations, community relations, crisis management, social media, business leadership team dynamics
- Corporate: Employee communications, executive communications, media relations, issues management, collaborating with senior leaders, story pitching, broadcast, internal events management
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications or related field
- Must be graduating between May 2026 and June 2028
- Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week
What will give you competitive edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Previous writing experience
- Demonstrates leadership in field of study, extra-curricular activities or service organizations
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience
- Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment
- High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takes initiative/self-directed, ability to multi-task
Start dates for this internship role are May & June of 2025.
Compensation:
- The salary range for this role is $3,500-$5,200 dependent upon class status and degree.
- GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2025 Student Program.
