Work Arrangement :

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Global Technical Center in Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.

The goal of the Enterprise Innovation team is to foster innovation across the GM ecosystem, collaborate with cross-functional teams and grow new value propositions.

What you'll do:

The Enterprise Innovation Intern, Engineering will have the opportunity to work as a part of the Solution Development team. In this role, you will develop full stack solutions for new product concepts using technologies like React, Node.js, and Python. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to prototype and iterate quickly on undefined projects, navigating ambiguity by problem-solving and adapting to evolving requirements.

Additionally, you will contribute to ideation sessions with technical insights and feasibility assessments and learn and apply new technologies and best practices to enhance our development processes. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment, working on projects that drive innovation and have a real impact on our product offerings. It is more than just a learning opportunity; it's a chance to make a significant contribution to our team and help shape the future of our products.

How You'll Make an Impact:

As an Enterprise Innovation Intern, Engineering, you will play a crucial role in driving our product innovation forward. Your contributions will include:

  • Developing Cutting-Edge Solutions : Utilize your skills in React, Node.js, and Python to create full stack solutions for new product concepts, directly influencing our product offerings.
  • Collaborative Prototyping : Work closely with cross-functional teams to quickly prototype and iterate on projects, ensuring we stay agile and responsive to evolving requirements.
  • Navigating Ambiguity : Apply your problem-solving abilities to navigate undefined projects, adapting to changes and finding innovative solutions.
  • Contributing to Ideation : Bring your technical insights to ideation sessions, providing feasibility assessments that help shape the direction of our projects.
  • Learning and Applying New Technologies : Stay ahead of the curve by learning and implementing new technologies and best practices, enhancing our development processes and overall efficiency.
  • Making a Real Impact : Gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment, working on projects that not only drive innovation but also have a tangible impact on our product offerings.

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or Data Science
  • Must be graduating between May 2026 - December 2027
  • Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week

What will give you a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience with full stack development using technologies like React, Node.js, and Python.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
  • Understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with prototyping and iterative development.
  • Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
  • Passion for learning new technologies and staying updated with industry trends.
  • Previous internship or project experience in software development or related fields.

Start dates for this internship role are May of 2025.

Compensation:

  • The salary range for this role is $4,700-$5,400, dependent upon class status and degree.
  • GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2025 Student Program.
